Mpila Camp, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife

The campsite is located on the Umfolozi side of the park. The facilities were spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly. there is a gift shop where you can purchase ice creams or drinks. Lovely park area for the kids to run around as you take a break for lunch. Well done to the staff there for making it a good experience for visitors to the park.

My favourite getaway, once a year we go and love it every time, the bush on our doorstep and affordable too

Bad:Stuff are not friendly to say the least, Not helpful at all.We had a broken gas geyser which they refused to repair.Power kept tripping due to poor maintenance.We booked for a morning game drive for 5:30am, only to pitch up and no one was there, we called the emergency line only for them to same we did not book.Extremely sad that such a beautiful place is run by such incompetent people and management. Certain parts of the park near the Ulundi Gate is extremely bare, no animals around due to locals Poaching game.Good:Park is extremely beautiful and full of animals. Such a special place to view the wildlife. I urge people to experience the park and support the park so they can continue to sustain the up keep of security, roads, facilities, view points, etc.

We really enjoyed our experience at Mpila Camp however a transformer blew up somewhere in the area so we had no electricity for the 3 or 4 days we were there. Thank goodness we came prepared for loadshedding otherwise we wouldn't have been able to eat. We had cold showers while the weather was freezing. Not the best experience but we were able to spot 2 leopards and many other animals

We love the tented camp at Mpila but over the years the safari tents have been seriously neglected. This latest tent (36) was the pits! The entrance flap was ripped, the zips were roughly sewn together and didn't close all the way. The window netting was completely torn, a fist size opening was unclosable. An attempt to fix with duct tape was evident but useless. The overall appearance of the inside of the tent was sad & proof it is due to be replaced. Gas ran out during the night so no hot water for coffee in the morning. Hats off to the cleaning staff tho. Everything was very clean and tidy.

When i went there on a day trip last year i was so at peace, being in the jungle not far from the hustle and bustle of a metro. They accept cards and have a curio shop for snacks and drinks . Cell phone coverage is a bit of a kenyana problem, but thats the beauty of it until you sit on the network hotspot chair at the camp. Nice way to resfresh the soul, with challets and tents for shelter when staying over. Will be back again

Always a great experience. Usually stay in the tents, but stayed in the 5 sleeper chalet this trip. Well equipped and clean. Bonus the generator came on at 5 instead of 7. The shop has had a wake up call since our trip end of last year; better stocked

I feel the best time to visit is during the dry season, it's also cooler. Animals always make their way to limited water resources, so you bound to have good sightings.Carry insect repellent and a headlamp or torch. Take plenty of pictures and make your stay memorable.

Was lovely to be back in the tented camp again after the hiatus of covid. And good to see that refurbishments had been completed since our last visit there. The kitchen contents were newly replaced and abundant, the patio table and chairs were also fairly new, and the beds in the tent were very comfortable with new mozzie nets. Not even the power outage from 10pm to 5am will be of any concern as the tents are cool and the upright fans are new and silent.The shop at Mpila has seen some welcome restocking which was the BIGGEST surprise, as it had everything that would be needed. Plentiful stocks of water, snacks, drinks and icecreams...so long may it last. Lovely stay and highly recommended
