TERRIBLE! I would like to agree with Chaswin Hendricks, I had an unfortunate coincidence to be served by the so called owner of the company as well this morning around 08:30 AM today. The attitude is in fact beyond terrible.!!! I have been doing projects around Florida for over 2 years now and each time I hired equipment spending tens of thousands of Rands over the years from this Tongaat and ironically I was served by his employees who were quite friendly. I went there this morning wanting scaffolding and unfortunately the ladies were not there and so had an encounter with the so called owner. I wanted to use their vehicle at an extra charge of course as I sometimes do if I do not have transport of my own to use on the day for one reason or another and then he tells me that he had an extra driver on site and delivery vehicles but the vehicles are locked up and he was not sure when one of his drivers who left with the gate keys was going to be back, he estimated at least an hour. I kindly asked with a smile what the cost implications would be if it takes longer and my team was idle as I had paid for the service in full as it did not make sense that one driver leaves with the keys when there are other customers for the day who would need to hire his transport as I believe this is an additional service for the convenience of customers and he said, with no remorse 'that is not my problem, you can use your Mercedes Sedan then' to which I got very offended by the sarcasm given how I have supported the business and an argument ensued. What a racist! I tried to share with him a few nuggets about customer service and the importance of treating customers with respect. I explained to him that it generally costs a business 5-25 times more to create a new customer than retain the one you already have, and he said 'do not tell me that, I also know customer care very well and that statistic depends on the size of customer'. This guy clearly treats customers with partiality and other customers get better treatment than others...I wonder where he was schooled. To me a customer who buys a single loaf of bread at a grocery store is as equally important as the one who buys 10 loaves of bread. I have to admit, since I was born this is the most terrible attitude I have ever received from the owner of a business. Most terrible experience ever! This will probably be my last time using Tongaat Plant Hire equipment, I used this business because of it's close proximity to my projects anyway. I would rather drive longer distances and get a wow service than be treated like I am of not value. Terrible experience!
