The food was amazing, great service and I enjoyed my dinner! I can’t fault them on anything. Do give this restaurant a try if you’re in the area; you won’t regret it :)

We visited Cheyne's on our second day in Hout Bay mostly because of the very good reviews. We really liked the atmosphere and the food itself was delicious. BUT the service was awful. It took ages before we finally got our drinks but the worst part was yet to come. When ordering the bill it said 970 ZAR. Including tip I wrote 1100 ZAR in the invoice but when the waiter handed me the card reader it suddenly said 2300 ZAR. When addressed to it he simply responded that it is alright. I refused to pay and asked him to put in the right amount which he eventually did. Nonetheless it was obvious that he tried to rip me off which is a shame.

Prices are a tad steep for the size of portions you get and somewhat tired venue. Even though the meal was not quite as good as I remember from Himitsu/Shio days, it was still pretty decent. The tuna tacos were the best whereas the pork belly was over-salted. I still don't know what exactly the Deep Fried Coconut Milk" balls were

I went for lunch with my partner and we had the most extraordinary dining experience. The food will put any 5 star, fine dining restaurant to shame. We will definitely be coming back and have already referred friends and family.I urge you to try this at least once as part of your bucket list.

Asian food is my favourite type of cuisine and Cheyenne’s just ticks all the boxes for me. Just 2 people are all the tapas dishes you see below. I was stuffed but got to taste all the amazing flavours that they are pulling off here. Well done.

Outstanding.A journey of distinctive and well matched unique flavours. Excellent quality and preparation. The menu has ample choice of small portions, 4 are enough for a generous adult meal

Wow! What a delightful experience! This establishment delivers dishes that can legitimately challenge any fine dining establishment. I would give Cheyne's Five stars individually, but for one issue noted by the other members of the group (which we'll get to in due course). The staff were attentive, helpful, and sharp with the orders. We were a group of five sitting in for dinner on the 8 September 2022. I highly recommend opting for the 4 dishes for R 340.00 in order to experience an array of what is available, especially since portion size for individual dishes is not exactly generous for people with large appetites. Most dishes ranged in price from R 90 to R 120 if ordered individually (it must be acknowledged this is not a destination for beating the recession) .The theme is described as Pacific rim so there's a strong Japanese and Korean influence, and the description of every item is intriguing and sounds so good! Everything I tasted was delicious, cocktails included.[chilli salt squid, potato and coconut dumplings, pork belly, Kyoto coffee] The potato dumplings especially surprised me with how good they were. What I really commend Cheyne's for is creating food that isn't being recreated at every other restaurant - it's not cliché burger, pizza, or even sushi that you can literally order anywhere else, it's genuinely original. If you like calamari get the salted squid" - I had no regrets

Every bite is a taste sensation! Each dish is a well planned journey for your tastebuds. Great for special occasions and really cozy in winter. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed.

I loved the decor and ambience, we were welcomed as we arrived and immediately taken through to our table. The food was lovely - 4 portions recommended were more than enough per person. You are given a choice to order 4 portions per person at R300 or alternatively you can chose to order individual portions. I had the sea-bass (my fav), lamb & salmon. As a forth portion I had the sago pudding. In addition they have a great wine selection and seem to cater for vegan and vegetarian preferences.Unfortunately the service was not that great and it did not get any better as the evening progressed. From what it looked like there were not enough waiters and waitresses although the restaurant was not too full.I will however definitely return as the food was really good. Thanks Cheyne’s!*Tips:- there is plenty of parking- don’t order all dishes at once especially if you are tasting with someone- everything arrives simultaneously and warm dishes will get cold so ask if you can order 2 or 3 at a time.

Cheyne's is a cool little gem found in Houtbay right by the Checkers. The parking gets full quickly but overflow into the Checkers parking area. They have a security guard patrolling during the night and also guide you to your car with a flash light instead of just putting up sufficient lighting outside.(gets very dark outside). The location is good. The atmosphere is incredible. We had a table setting for 11adults and 2 kids and the table was a little uncomfortable. One side of the table could not communicate with the other side and breaks to the lavatory proved a struggle as tables had to be moved for the people to get out.(disrupting). The service was good. Our waiter got a few requests wrong but was forgiven because the food was simply delicious. The special they were running was very confusing when the bill came as it was R180 per person and you can have any 3 items off the menu but they still ring it up as individual items.(which was confusing because you could not see where the food was discounted?) Overall a great experience. They will be kicking over to the start of Spring Specials which will be R280 for 4 items of the menu. This is a must visit. The portions is a little bigger than tapas which means you can try all your favorites " in one sitting. Cool hey? See you there soon!"
