Small Claims Court

All the judge was interested in was telling us about his life. Very disappointing and a waste of time. He said that our car insurances would handle the matter but I still have to pay the excessive excess before the insurance claims a reimbursement from the defendant.

Abit intimidating to go here . With construction and appointment was in the eve. However it was quick and efficient.

I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I arrived as the department I was going to was going on lunch.A very friendly and helpful lady took time from her lunch hour to give me the forms I needed and explained everything in detail.Even the security guards were extremely helpful and friendly.Keep up the good work, proudly South African service.

Fair judges we love

I've only taken one case to this court and after the experience definitely will not waste my time ever taking a complaint there again.The presiding commissioner would not allow me to deliver my evidence, I was humiliated and spoken to with malice, despite that I went prepared with all the evidence I had submitted in 3 bundles, one for the court, one for the defendant and one for myself, all paginated and indexed.I've never felt more insulted. It was apparent that the only thing the commissioner was intent on doing was to get all the cases over with so he could get home.It appears the justice system is designed for the bad guys. Very disconcerting.

Very pleasant and helpful assistance at the department's window.The process is not as intimidating as anticipated.An application form was issued to complete with the very relevant information.This form has to be presented to the respondent via registered post or by a police department official.The respondent has 14 days to pay, failing which the applicant is required to lodge matter with small claims court. An affidavit and proof of delivery of form to the respondent has to be included when lodging matter.Not too difficult to do if one is seeking justice?
