Had worst experience in the Gariep at this restaurant. Was attracted to by the advert on the road which said they have cocktails and rated 4 stars. We didn't even get 3 star treatment. There was no bar person so we couldn't order cocktails. Drinks, which was wine, took 45 minutes and food even longer. The wings came over cooked and dunked in horrid sauce, the chips should not have been served at all. No communication from waiters whilst we waited for our even and we had to ask time and again.

The waiters weren't interested in helping us. We had to go up to the bar and ask for service, which was slow. Their food was good but that was it! Otherwise, no service... oh and all tables, chairs were dirty! We found a cleanish one to sit at!

Best service, spacious room and lovely dinner with a waiter asking and saying just the right things like: Did you enjoy your Lamb Shank?" and not: "Would you like anything else?" We tipped her well."

Had a good stay there. The rooms were nice with a nice view of the Gariep dam and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Had to make special arrangements for work but they assisted us nicely without any issues. Only problem is that there isn't alot to do in the area and it's far from shopping centre's.

What an absolute blessing to enjoy both the sunset and sunrise from this perfect vantage point.The hotel is well located for an uninterrupted view of the dam.The food was good, the service was great and indoor gas heaters ensured a warm and comfortable experience.For a stop over just off the N1, this is a good choice!What I enjoyed the most, was listening to the staff talk in Afrikaans.

This time we stayed for 2 nights in one of the self-catering 2 bedroom apartments. The apartment (and all the other hotel rooms) are super spacious and equipped with full bathrooms with luxury hotel amenities. The beds are very comfortable and crisp clean with 100% white cotton sheets. The views are spectacular. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff were friendly and attentive. We love waking up here. The Karoo mornings feel crisp, calm and uplifting here at De Stijl Gariep Hotel.

For the price, the accommodation is disappointing. Furniture is all tired. None of the windows worked and the one street-facing window wouldn’t lock. Bedding was clean but the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. The view over the dam is great but definitely not worth the price you pay. Didn’t eat at the restaurant. Such a pity because there is a huge need for great stop-over options between Gauteng and the Cape.
