Had the most romantic weekend away with my hubby of nearly 22 years. He booked us into The Everglades from the 13th to the 15th January 2017. We were greeted with a warm smile and friendly face at reception. Upon arriving at our room, we were again greeted by a very friendly and very wet, Sean, who was delivering our complimentary champaign on ice, to our room in the pouring rain. Our room was very spacious and warm with beautiful views. The food was lovely and were always attended to by a very friendly, Pretty, who took our orders. We had the most wonderful time there and made new friends. Thank you to Sean, Robyn, Michelle, Warren and Martin for all the laughs and making us feel at home. Will definately be going back.

I regret to write that this hotel is terribly run down and a group of 9 of us had to abandon our booking at this establishment. I have gone from feeling sorry for the establishment to rather annoyed as the images on the internet do not reflect what is waiting for the hapless traveller. The swimming pool is empty, bowling green and grounds in general overgrown and abandoned state, the bar and the main buildings feel like a barren morgue with threadbare furniture. To be fair we didn't get as far as the bedrooms but the rat in the bedroom window alongside the parking lot was enough to convince us it wasn't required. We could not bear to stay there and informed the management as such and left despite being informed that the contract said no refunds on the day - that was still a better option than staying there. The owners have subsequently told us that no refund or part refund will be forthcoming.I had a feeling the staff were very eager for guests and the main buildings were very clean but sadly it needs a really big investment to make anything of this. The area around the hotel did seem really nice. There may be hope for the hotel but be warned the current pictures of grounds and main building online DO NOT reflect the depression that is waiting for you in Nov 2020.

Photos on the web do not reflect reality! A group of us were left with little choice but to abandon our stay at the hotel because of what we witnessed upon arrival. The parking lot was overrun with weeds, the buildings/facilities were run down and the pool was empty. While I appreciate the efforts the staff must have put into preparing for our arrival, I felt extremely uncomfortable with what I saw. Seeing a rat crawl along a windowsill in a guest bedroom made our decision to abandon our booking quite easy. We were extremely dissapointed and frustrated, as leaving and finding alternative acommodation in the area was quite inconvenient.

I wonder what on earth happened to those two other reviewers who inflicted the one star: I (along with 17 others who accompanied me) was utterly charmed by the excellence of the lodgings: they're up to date, impeccably clean and very stylish. The country club like atmosphere of the main buildings (dining rooms, bar, living areas) was airy and very comfortable. The endless expanses of beautifully kept lawns and gardens in full bloom were breathtaking: and the views of the dramatic mountain ridge (you could practically reach out and touch it) were gorgeous. We arrived in pea soup fog, but the next day was crystalline: I wish we could have stayed a week! In fact, I'm planning on going back as soon as I can manage...from the USA, it's not too easy, alas.

Bitterly disappointing !!Rooms - booked a standard, which I wouldn't even class as a budget. Carpet torn, broken tiles in the shower, mould all over the shower ceiling . Bedding and towels clean.Food - basic but tasty. Did run out of some items ( even though the hotel was far from full )Serious maintenance needed throughout the hotel. Bare light bulbs in all fittings through out hotel. Ceilings collapsing, water damage, paint peeling off. TV's - vintage model and snowy pic.(Advertising pics must have been taken long, long ago !! )Management nowhere to be seen. No friendly welcome, no morning and afternoon teas with home made biscuits or scones. No staff around to order a drink while sitting outside at the pool ( which is also in need of attention )Best part of the weekend was meeting Bela, the resident dog !Rather spend your hard earned cash elsewhere in the Midlands !Definitely will not be back, and will spread the word !

Terrible, Horrific, Dreadful, Pathetic, in short the place is a dump!!!!!! a real run-down hole.....The access road is a welcome sign to all, Stay Clear of this place people....you will regret your stay. Our horror story began 2013 'Christmas Eve', what an awful experience for our kids who were excited to meet Santa. We experienced the following : - Wet 'stale' paint in our rooms on arrival, dead mice in the lounge area, worms on our beds, no decent parking spots, rooms were stuffy and had mouldy smell. TV did not work, showers were dirty, Kids play area had broken rotting timber, pool was murky and green. The dining area was infested with flies, food was terrible, mush and spam.....tasteless....The website photos need to be updated because it is a serious misrepresentation of this place. I wouldn't even stay there for free. The owners were not helpful nor were they willing to refund a portion of our money for the inconvenience. We left after one night but paid for two......very very disappointing....

Beautiful setting. But over priced for what you get. Rooms very rundown. Our room has torn carpets, cracked tiles, cracked windows, an ancient tv which didn't work. Only one of the beds had an electric blanket . However, all that aside the views and amazing.

Customer service is non existent and disgraceful. Breakfast was revolting. We abandoned out stay. Fraudulent proof of refunds were sent but no actual refund. Do NOT book here!
