I love this spot. The food is excellent and everyone is friendly and eager to help. Unfortunately, I recommended this place to friends and they has a less than pleasant experience. They arrived more than two hours before the kitchens would close, but got told that the chef was tired and would only serve crepes". We all get tired when we work

Great look once you enter!Happy, friendly, fresh and beach vibe when you are here in this adorable local top eatery in Houtbay.Variety of food and drinks to choose from. These include, breakfast, crepes, croissants, freshly made cakes such as carrot cake for those who want to eat their vegetables while enjoying a fresh cake. Not to mention the breakfast bowls and also great lunch choices to choose from.Great way to go

The chai milkshake I had was lovely, but then we waited for almost an hour for very mediocre food and asked twice for take-away boxes which I had to go fetch at the kitchen myself. When we arrived there we had also asked if we can be seated inside once a table becomes available, as it was cold outside. Both of the waiters we spoke to never came to fetch us for tables that opened inside and kept giving them away to new patrons. We also waited quite long for a waiter to come back to us to hear if we would like to have another drink while we waited so long for our food (we had 1 x crepes and 3 x toasties).

Food was average, the waiter was lovely and attentive. It is a quaint little place for coffee.

First time I went it was a disaster, slow service, but food ok so I thought I would give it another try... Second time not much better. Obviously the owner nowhere to be seen and business has been left to run itself. Service was just off" staff don't really know how to interact with customer it felt forced and awkward. Language barrier definitely an issue. What we ordered was basic

The food is okay. The service is not great. Was ignored by the staff. They would check up on the other tables next to me but wouldn't come to me to find out if I wanted to order or check if I needed anything else. Kept having to call a waiter whenever I needed to order something. This is the 5th time I've gone to Pelican, and every time I get the same bad service, hoping it will get better.

Food was amazing, staff friendly and bright. Great place for breakfast. I had eggs and toast followed by a pancake. Coffee was spot on.

Quaint little café nicely set back from one of the busiest business areas of Hout Bay. Lovely wooden decking immediately outside offers a shaded area for outdoor dining while far enough from the road to watch the world go by without interruption. Good food choices on the menu and great service. Will definitely return.

The pelican is a very nice place to be. Either for breakfast or lunch!Their menu offers for everyone something, they even have vegan options! What I cherish about the pelican is that they think about the Hout Bay community. For each coffee or crepe they donate to an amount to organisations located in the Bay!Always a nice experience

Warm welcome at a relaxing restaurant under the trees. Set back from the main road in Hout Bay.Excellent service from Tapes who took our request to leave soon for the airport seriously.Well presented, portioned and delicious food especially given it was a busy Saturday morning.Keep it up.
