Vrede en Lust Wine Estate
We visited the stunning Vrede en Lust Wine Estate when visiting Franschhoek, and it was one of the highlights of our visit to South Africa. We were on the Wine Tram, with one of the stops being Vrede en Lust Wine Estate. We had pre-booked one of their Cheese & Wine pairings, and although we were a little late, the table was all set on their stunning balcony looking over their vineyards and the Franschhoek Valley. The estate has been in the same family for over 100 years, and you could clearly see they are passionate about producing high-quality wines. The wine tasting was excellent, and Noxi was absolutely superb and talking through the wines and the local cheese pairings that accompanied the wine. She was very knowledgeable and helpful, and really made the experience even more memorable. The cheeses were all local and delicious, and the wines were perfectly chosen to complement them. Even if on paper it wouldn’t be a choice I would have made, they all worked incredibly well together. If you're looking for a unique and delicious wine-tasting experience, I highly recommend adding Vrede en Lust to your itinerary if visiting Franschhoek. The wine and cheese pairing is a must-try!

breakfast which is served all day is definitely a plus. Ordered the eggs Florentine, smoked trout. I love eggs Benedict and have it with salmon at most restaurants... Very disappointing. No flavours at all. The spinach was whole leaves wilted with stems, making it difficult to cut an eat. Hollandaise sauce was coagulating too thick and just lacked any flavor. Requested runny eggs, it was not.. And food was cold by the time it reached us. One English muffin toasted. The butter knife was struggling to cut through it, rubbery from getting cold. R120 for this Coffee was very average. My companion ordered the French toast.. Very thick sour dough slices.. Tasty an very sweet.. But being as thick the egg was not cooked through in the bread and was still wet". The best part was the blue berry milkshake which was delicious. The waitress was very friendly however also very flustered and food and service was slow and cold. She came back twice to the table behind us to apologize for the delay of their food.. When it did come out it was incorrect. The gentleman was alresdy done with his burger by the time the lady's eggs Florentine came out. Views from Lust deli is a car park

Super average experience. We came on wine tram. The other family with us felt the same way. Staff were not welcoming at wine tasting side or friendly at all. It was a Saturday 10th June and we came from Johannesburg, the other family was from Cape town. We also had food at the restaurant, my partner and i both had burgers, they were tasteless and very underwhelming. Wine was good, but what's good wine without a good atmosphere.

Tasty wine, beautiful place.Although the waitress fought about serving us what we ordered. We asked for 5 wines, she served only 3 and went aggressive as we requested the 2 that were left.

We stayed in a Vineyard room and ate dinner at Savoy restaurant. Everything about our stay was excellent. The rooms are modern and comfortable. The breakfast was gourmet! And a wine tasting was included. Highly recommended!

We visited Vrede en Lust Wine Estate as one of our stops on the Franschoek Wine Tram; it was a disappointing experience in comparison to the other wine farms we visited. Although the wine was decent, the service was less than satisfactory and the atmosphere a bit pretentious.

Breath taking views and exceptional wines. The young sommelier is very knowledgeable about the Vrede en Lust history and wines. I enjoyed the wine tasting experience and will most definitely be coming back again.

Lust bistro has a lovely atmosphere, great breakfast, lunch or pastry to go menu, friendly staff and it's dog friendly (if on the lead). The wine tasting is done in the tasting room and they have several tasting & wine pairing options and a gorgeous view across the vineyards to the mountains.

Service non existant. After 30 minutes waiting for a wine tasting and chasing up for some service we left. Others who were also strugging to get anyone to serve some wine also departed.Plaisir next door was much better.

Beautiful setting and an enjoyable wine tasting. The patter from the front of house staff about each wine felt a bit robotic, but I can understand this when every hour they get the next bunch of people arriving off the wine tram. The wines themselves were a bit hit and miss, maybe not so memorable. Wouldn’t rush back myself but I would recommend to others.
