We had booked a family room with half board. The hotel is old, even though they tried to update the reception area, floors, rooms including furniture and the bathroom was very old. I couldn't close the security chain from my door as the counterpart was gone, doors are thin, locks are old. Guess one kick and the door is open. Also I could hear every single person that came walking across my floor. No feeling of safety and privacy. The light in the shower was broken, so were some of the plugs, and many tiles in the bathroom. If it would at least have been clean, but I found some hair of previous guests and the tiles in the bathroom were spilled with I don't want to know what this was." Our booked game drive started with one hour delay. After I asked two times at the reception they tried to phone the ranger - but also left us without information.I can't rate dinner as I felt so uncomfortable here I skipped it."

Had a great nights stay! Room was nice and clean and had everything we needed, dinner at the restaurant was superb with great service! My only problem was that there was some very loud repetitive music coming from the pool bar, I agree music makes for a great atmosphere but maybe a selection of music catering for all that are staying would be more preferred and also played a bit softer as I did have fo call reception because the music was quiet loud once closed up in our hotel room :(

Very good customer service. The rooms are dated though; we didn't enjoy the shower. The estate has a selection of activities you can partake in and the restaurant offers excellent food

I booked in, paid R1187 for the Hotel room and a so called breakage deposit of R500. Whe I got to the room there was no bar fridge. I went to fetch a Cooler box with Ice and Water in my Vehicle. When I wanted to take the Cooker box to my room they said it is not allowed. I requested them to refund me, because of load shedding and no fridges everything in the Room will be hot. The owner rudely refused and said they don't do refunds. He actually chased me out. I will not recommend this place for any one. Stay away!

Hi There,Our visit to Sundowner this past weekend was so different to that of the past that we felt necessary to comment/review our outstanding experience.Having last visited Sundowner in 2019, our 2 night, visit last weekend (2023) left us feeling well rested and ready to tackle the new week. We were rather inspired to see how much the hotel has transformed in all aspects! The staff were polite and very helpful. Our room was revamped and modernized! Our food was hearty and delicious, the kiddies ordered gourmet milkshakes (a must have). The hotel was full, guests providing a really good holiday buzz!To the management and staff thank you for a lovely weekend, we are excited to see what sundowner does next!

I cannot believe the transformation that this venus is undergoing. With over 100 hotel rooms, chalets, great food and relaxing atmosphere, I am looking forward to seeing the final results. The staff are friendly and this venue offers everything from conferencing to game drives, 4 wheeler fun and a really cozy bar.The gym has state of the art equipment and a massive sports field.Really a very versatile venue.A really nice morning spent at the venue and a great lunch.

Big things are coming from this resort. It's under new management, and they're renovating this place into an incredible, luxurious place to be! The staff are fantastic and the food great! There's a great outdoor bar which they were doing up whilst I was there. The renovation didnt bother anyones stay, if anything it was exciting to watch it all taking shape!Don't worry about the old reviews, this place is going places under the new owners and the skys the limit it seems! Cannot wait to come back when it's fully finished!Highly recommended!!

Sundown Country Estate Pros and Cons of our stay:Pros- The staff were friendly and accommodating even when we made last min changes from the hotel to the self-catering chalet.- It is quiet and in nature which is great, the self-catering has a lovely braai area and you get fresh towels each day with shower gel etc.Cons- This is a three-star do not expect anything more than that, the pictures online are deceiving as it is far more run down.- They are still busy with renovations at the pool and bar- The pool was green and dirty (I do understand that this could be due to the renovations of the pool bar area).- The self-catering chalets could have some more finishing touches: Breadboard, salt and pepper, dishwashing liquid and sponge (They are serviced every day but you will still need to wash a few things).- My partner's phone was stolen outside our chalet, the staff did get on top of it very quickly however they also tried to blame the monkeys. The phone cover and bank card miraculously were found in the bushes and handed to reception - The iPhone was tracked to a chalet a few blocks away and never recovered.- There are only two pillows per bed, so I suggest you bring pillows from home.- We waited 45min at the pool for two pizzas, the food is okay but can't really comment as that was all we ate from the restaurant.
