The Mnweni circuit is one of the best multi day hikes in the Northern Drakensberg. Starts and finishes at Mnweni Cultural center. They also have various types of accommodation available at the center.

There's a lovely atmosphere at the cultural centre and the employess are very friendly. This centre is the gateway to the spectacular Mnweni area of the majestic Drakensberg mountains.

Super friendly staff, lovely surroundings, and close to many hikes. Even in the dead of winter the rondawels manage to stay at a comfortable temperature. The centre is situated in a very active valley, with lots of comings and goings of school children, cattle, cars, and dogs. The shared kitchen was so-so (several crucial items missing, and dirty dishes tend to pile up fast with more people staying there). Bathrooms were adequate though shower temperature in winter was unfortunately lacking. For avid hikers who aren't picky about comforts, this is a good choice.

This place is not for sissies!! Need to be fit and need to have someone with experience in your team! Probably one of the most beautiful and most remote places I have ever been to!!! The water is priceless!!!!!!! Why not a 5 star, this place broke me and I realised again how small we as humans are!

Facilities at the Mweni Cultural Centre are not well kept, and ablution and shower facilities are mostly out of order. The communal kitchen facilities are not clean and hygienic. It is however located in a beautiful area in the Drakensberg. The roads are in an exceptionally poor condition, and some of the campers lost tyres on the way to their camping spots. This could be one of the most amazing experiences in the Berg and generate some much needed tourism spending there. This is however VERY far accommodating tourists... local and even much so international... It is one of those very sad South African realities...

A great spot in the Drakensberg (close to Mnweni pass) with a grassy field campsite (non electric sites) with basic ablutions with hot water and a communal kitchen and dining room with electricity (fridge , kettle, microwave) and gas cookers. In a rural area with dirt roads which may require a high rise vehicle for easier access.

Loved the rooms, the view of the mighty Drakensburg in the morning and the people there were friendly and accommodating.

Parked the car here for a Mnweni Pass hike in early July 2020 and found the place to be a mess and poorly managed. As there are few other options available this would most likely be the only venue in the area to get safe parking and some accommodation.

One of my favourite hiking trips all year round. Need to be quite fit to enjoy the hike. Always check weather before and during trip as rain thunderstorms could catch you by surprise. Dorm rooms and over night camping is allowed at mNweni Cultural Centre.Remember to sign out at office before you start the trip and take warm clothes hiking gear in case of snow and bad weather.
