We decided to cross over differently this year. It was totally worth it. We were welcomed very well and the host assisted us to set up at our own private camp site. We had a young gentleman assist us when we needed things and were even borrowed one of the ladies a tent.The toilets and showers were clean. We were allowed to use the boat to go onto the lake which added the kids 1st time camping experience.I would definitely go back.Thank you for the experience.

We arrived at Bernalleys on a Saturday morning. The owner gave us the keys to our chalet and told us that we had two full splash pools outside our chalet and that he had just restocked the dams with fish. Unfortunately this was not the case. The splash pools were empty and all the dams were dried up besides two which had very low water levels. Being winter I do understand that the water levels would be low at this time of the year, but the dams that did have water had very little to no fish at all.Even though we had a fun weekend and our dogs enjoyed it a lot, it was a pity to see the place so run down. The fences had not been maintained and lots were broken or had collapsed in places, making it feel very unsafe. We even had someone standing outside our door the one morning begging for money, which made us feel very uncomfortable at the fact that firstly the person could get into the properly and secondly that he had been standing outside there for most of the morning. The beds in the chalets were very old and we got bruises from the springs poking us. The owner also told us that his dogs would always be locked behind the fence at his house. However, when we went to collect firewood later in the day his dogs were out and they jumped up and scratched my car quite badly.It’s unfortunate to see a beautiful place with lots of potential so run down. The place is pricey considering all these factors and the lack of maintenance on the chalets. There was also no oven or microwave in the chalet as advertised on the website. Before you book, have a look at the reviews posted about Bernallys. I think it would be best to spend your money elsewhere at other accommodation in the area.

Lovely place for a day outing. Fishing extremely poor. No trout at all. A number of unattended lines in the water. It appears people live on the premises and they are dependent on fish for food. Pet friendly.

Very nice camp site. Would be perfect if it had some recent rain. The big dam was completely dry and grass stood high. Other dams were extremely low. Some small bass, but very muddy conditions. Pity.On the other hand, the walking trails is lovely, tranquil and many. Very quiet place and cabbins is fairly privately situated. Clean and simple. Steps a bit steap, so elder people WILL struggle.Power points and lights everywhere. Security guards patrolling at night. Not for the faint hearted, but actually well kept. Good communication from the host and actively involved. Splash pool at communial outside area. Ablutions have very hot water. Many showers and a bath. Not wheelchair friendly. Dogs loved it!

Hi,Went there the easter weekend. Lovely places but so run down and dirty.If they would only clean the beautiful little chalets they would be perfect.Had 6 knives, 2 forks, no opener, no braai tongs a dirty bread board and I can carry on. Luckily on slept there went out during the day. Won't recommend.

I wish I had the power to close this place down completely. WHAT A DISGUSTING EXPERIENCE.Got greeted at the gate by someone that told me “sorry oom, maar eks baie dronk”Showed us where to go but didn’t even unpack. Went down to check the fishing area out and the owners sitting there drunk at 14:00 and smoking weed next to the dam.The place is falling apart. Run down is an understatement. Stinks. Bedding not changed after the other people check out. Dirty, stained mattresses, shower curtain over ran with mold. One spoon and 2 plates in a place for 4 pax. Dish cloth still dirty from previous stay. Dustbin not emptied. Spiders webs all over. The carpet is drenched with urine. Vomit on the stoep area. Braai not clean. Ag i can carry on.Please avoid this place at ALLLLLL COST.WE LEFT 20min AFTER GETTING THERE.

Don't book here. The pictures look much better than reality. We arrived, took a walk and left straight after that. I believe they know why people don't stay for the amount of days that they booked but they don't care because they won't refund you. So they lie to the next lot, taking their money with false promises.There is no water in the dam. No water in the splash pool. The cottage that we stayed in smelled. Very run down. Would not recommend. You only get 1 star because I am unable to give you -1

Awsome time again. 3rd year in a row. And cought a fish.
