It’s quiet and off the beaten track. PatienceIs required to get the best game viewing. Recommended. Ample picnic facilities and lovely chalets.

Seekoeivlei Nature Reserve (Destea)
Enjoyed the outing. Very quiet and a nice getaway. Some of the routes needs 4x4 to handle and are unfortunately not marked. Got stuck but did receive some nice park assistance (with a smile) to get us back on the road again. Chalets are not outstanding but not bad at all. No TV but that was no biggy as we rather went picnicking and enjoyed card games at night. Overall very enjoyable and worth a visit.

If you want to experience true peace and quiet within a beautiful wetland area, which is also a RAMSAR site, this is a must-go place in the Free State. Fully equipped luxurious chalets, each with beautiful views of the wetlands and local wildlife, make your stay unforgettable. Reserve also close town of Memel, with lots of things to see and do, and nice local restaurants.

We are pleasantly surprised at the beauty of nature here, and so too the comfortable accommodation! It is Savana - grass land, as far as the eye can see, with some trees (mostly planted), hills and mountains. The birds and wild life always a pleasure to watch. Nature undisturbed! God's creation is magnificent!
