We planned to have some renovations done on our place to give our home a makeover. We aimed to renovate 3 areas of our home, namely:1. Upgrade the kitchen2. Add sliding doors to our balcony3. Replace our bedroom cupboardsTo select a contractor we used the platform Kandua who we thought would provide us with a hassle free solution with verified contractors, which led to us selecting Msizi resources. This was the beginning of a unpleasant experience which turned what was supposed to be our dream home makeover turned into a nightmare project. The biggest areas of concern regarding the work done by Msizi resources are:• Poor quality workmanship○ The work done was often poor, with constant areas of correction needing to be highlighted. Basic elements such as skew cupboards, lack of alignment on cupboards, edging done on all cupboards were of sub-par standard and we constantly had to point out these flaws○ Barely a few weeks after installation the edging was peeling off, breaking etc.• Lack of professionalism○ After providing the initial quote for the bedroom cupboards he then said the prices of items had changed and wanted more money for it. Even though he came and took all required measurements before hand○ Project is still not complete with us being promised every month that he will return to replace the cupboard doors which he cut too short• Time delays○ A project which started in mid-April that was supposed to take maximum 2 weeks (in an empty house with no one in it for convenience) is still ongoing currently and it is now October○ We kept being assured of the project being completed and ended up having to book multiple nights in a hotel due to the work not being complete as per the communicated date• Lack of overall skills to complete the job competently○ I got the sense that the necessary skills / competency to complete the job were not there. Basic elements such as dimensions being read wrong; boards being cut too short are some of the concerns around overall competency / skills• Poor communication○ There was poor communication throughout the project with our initial agreed upon design being changed without any communication to us. Measurements and dimensions which were provided were read incorrectly" and changed with no communicationOf the 3 areas we renovated
