Protea Metering

I stay in a 2 bedroom apartment in Edinburgh which is occupied by a total of 3 adults. It is my first experience using OAMI Protea Metering and I feel like I am being robbed. The electricity usage seems to be exorbitantly high. On Friday I was charged 30.7Kwhs of usage when we barely used electricity. Yesterday we were charged 27 units. It seems like there is often spikes in electricity usage when we aren't using much in the first place. I moved from a 3 bedroom place which was much bigger than where I am now yet I am paying almost double for electricity.The call center doesn't bother to answer and every single email address comes back undelivered.I have also noticed that the generic responses from Protea Metering means nothing as it goes back to putting the blame on consumer stating they are charged according to usage.

Using 30 kWh a day is totally unacceptable, about R100 a day without even using our hot water, any elements, oven and other heavy power consumption equipment. It’s absolutely unfair.It doesn’t add up, we need an explanation for this.

Alot of people has had alot of horrible experiences with this company my only complain really is that they charge R9. 27 per day for you to simply exist. The R9. 27 daily makes R3400 per year just to make use of this company. Other than that I haven't had trouble buying electricity and they do always answer their phones. Make the daily charge more reasonable and I'll gladly use this company.

Before you are planning to move into any apartment just make sure they don’t use this company. I paid for electricity on their app, it’s been two hours waiting for my lights to get back on!When you contact their customer support line no one is really helpful or even gives you the confidence that they are working on resolving your issue.

Worst decision ever made. IHS Property Management and Protea Metering. Please do yourself a favour don't rent nor use the metering service. 18hours and counting no one is willing or able to reconnect services. It's the 4th time experiencing this. Pure scam

This company absolutely takes advantage of people because of the service and you would wish you just pay for everything directly to the municipality, never stay in a house which they are the ones you pay to for services, unpredictable billing no explanations for the bills they just tell you to check the invoice for which they can't explain themselves why the items billed are being billed.

I don't even want to give this horrible company a star I just had to so I can write a review. No one picks the phone and end up blocking your contacts. Their billing rates are insane and nonsensical. Surprises every now and then. I am really annoyed bought electricity through oami yesterday it hasn't reflected. They can't help me

They have the worst service. They ignore customers queries and take time to resolve their OWN system issues. I'd give it zero stars if it were possible.I loaded three times in one day and only one of the payments reflected, I've beeeeeen calling since the 15th, the funds haven't reflected yet. I sent proof of payments, still, I'm being ignored.Save yourself the trouble of living in an apartment that uses their services.

There are hidden charges everywhere. They charge nearly R10 per day just to own the account. The take 10% off of any money you add into the account. Its 4 days into the month and R250 is already gone from the account with 2 people living very conservatively. This company is a joke.Update: the R9.27 a day is now R19.98 per day just to own the account. This company is performing daylight robbery. Their rating says it all

I move in to the Waldorf Ravenswood, no one tells me how water bill is paid , instead you send me , water bill for 2 months , and an additional fee which is double my bill, without explaining anything whatsoever and you go on to block me , on purchasing electricity. Your tariffs are very high , electricity is too expensive and so is water. Try to contact customer service and still you keep being tossed around.
