The best and awesome place we’ve ever stayed in SA! Ilse and Loek were amazing and friendly! Highly recommended this place! The lodge is located in the game reserve! Room was spacious, comfortable and eco friendly. 5-star dining food. Ilse cooked like a professional chef and hopefully she will have her own cookbook(I’ll buy it for sure!) They have a water hole where you can see different animals coming by from your lodge. You can see the animals from their camera if you missed it. It’s still worth it! Game reserve daily was a plus and the trip to safari tour at Kruger National park was just breathtaking! Everything is so great at this lodge. It was by far the best 3 nights stay we ever stayed. Would definitely returned. Couldn’t thank Ilse and Loek enough for making our first Kruger Safari experience memorable!

Wow is what Beryl and I can say. We spent 3 nights at this wonderful lodge, and it was an experience we have never had before. Loek and Ilse are the perfect hosts who cared for us all during our stay. The menu and meals Ilse served were out of this world, and her malva pudding the best we have ever tasted. Many thanks Ilse. Loek took care of our game drives and as I have a slight mobility problem and he ensured that I could get in and out of the vehicle. His knowledge of the Bush was very good, and he took us on exciting game drives, and when we got very close to the elephants he just calmly said enjoy the moment". This comment worked. We can't say thank you enough to Loek and Ilse

Sadly we can’t leave a positive review like the others here.Never have we been treated with so much disrespect by a host. On the first evening (which turned out to be our last) we were, without any discussion, on a shared table with the other guests, which was nice for one evening, but a simple and friendly request to not be seated at the same table with the other guests for the other meals (we weren’t traveling with them and preferred non-group meals) was received with much anger and disrespect.Trying to resolve this lead to false accusations and being told we were “not behaving like they expect guests to behave”.There was zero effort from their side to solve this in a respectful manner. This all followed an already disappointing dinner experience, which was non-negotiably served inside and during which the main course consisted of plain spaghetti (?) with bland butter and no side dishes. And for the vegetarian overly spicy brown beans and chickpeas. Our polite mentioning of the spice level was also not taken well.Such a shame that the owners completely lack respect and any sense of hospitality, as they have build a lovely lodge with lots of potential & Loek does a great job at the game drive.

The Lodge is African class at it's best. Loek and Ilse have a passion for the South African Bush and it shows in all they do. Ilse's food makes use of fresh South African produce with a focus on flavour. Exquisite quisine. Erg lekker!

We had a lovely 4 nights at the Lengau Lodge. The lodge itself is beautifully done - the pool area, dining area and viewing deck are amazing. It is open to the wild aside from an elephant fence so we felt very at one with nature! The rooms are lovely - enormous bed, spacious room and nice layout with the shower area. We really loved the thatched roof and the view of the watering hole as well. The food was amazing, we had cooked breakfast, a choice of lunch from a menu then a three course meal every night. Each meal was incredibly tasty. The drives we had each morning and evening were amazing. We saw many animals, encountered no traffic and had a rest stop at the halfway mark each drive where we could stretch our legs and have some snacks / drinks around the car.The hosts Ilse and Loek were very knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. We really enjoyed the after meal drink and chat with them and wish we had invited them to sit with us at dinner! We were sad to leave, but happy to think that one day, hopefully soon, we will be back here again.

Wonderful Bush ExperienceWe stayed late May/early June 2023. Ilse and Loek are terrific hosts and work tirelessly to ensure all guests see a variety of wildlife. The food is lovely with Ilse going out of her way to ensure my wife, who is gluten intolerant, ate as well as the other guests. So really nice home cooked dinners and excellent breakfasts after the morning game drives. It is an intimate lodge with about 4 lovely rondavels - very spacious and beautifully furnished. There were about 7 other guests when we stayed that week and we all met for breakfasts and dinners together which was nice. We stayed 4 nights and consider the package to be excellent value for what we experienced. The safari drives were all exciting and we managed to see countless giraffes, zebras, hippos, some crocodiles, elephants, warthogs, impala, kudus, Nyala etc - we were pretty happy. We missed the lions and leopard, but we know from Loek and other guests' posts that they are around. Also learned a lot about the environment/habitat from Loek as well as his in-depth knowledge of gins! . They also have a fantastic dog - a 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback who is lots of fun. We would highly recommend staying here for a complete bush experience - thanks Ilse & Loek xx

My sons (age 17 and 14) and I stayed for 7 nights at the beginning of June. From even before we arrived, everything was perfect. Loek and Ilse answered all of my questions very quickly via text before the trip. They put together an itinerary for us with lots of thought about having more restful days between the busy days. Upon arrival, they greeted us as friends. Directions were very clear. I appreciated knowing the schedule ahead of time so we always knew exactly when our next meal or drive would begin, but not so far ahead that I had to remember too much but could just relax without worry. The Family Zebra Room was large, comfortable, and very clean. The table with the built in USB charging and the two sinks in the bathroom were convenient. Room was made up perfectly each day. All meals were top notch, far beyond expectations. Menus were really varied each day and all were incredibly tasty and filling, even for a 17 year old boy. Everything was extremely fresh. Ilse went above and beyond by also giving my 17 year old a day of cooking classes. He was able to help prepare lunch and help with the preparation of the evening dessert. He has taken cooking classes in several countries and was so happy that Ilse took the time to work with him to learn about cooking in South Africa. That was such a special experience for him. Loek did an incredible job with the safari drives. He was very informative and did a fantastic job finding animals and giving lots of additional information. The location was remote enough that it was very quiet and there were very few other vehicles, making for ideal animal viewing conditions. Loek checked in with the reserve each drive to find updates on any animal sightings which was very helpful. He is an excellent driver and we always felt safe. Loek is excellent at photography and took photos of rarer animals that we saw along the drives. He then shared those photos with us. It was a relief to be able to enjoy just viewing the animals instead of trying to take good pictures myself, knowing that he would send ones far better than I could ever take. This way we had the experience without the pressure of trying to get a good picture as a memory. Loek and Ilse gave us an amazing vacation, seeing so many animals every day and keeping it absolutely stress free and relaxing. I would not hesitate to recommend Lengau Lodge.

What a fantastic 3 day stay at Lengau which exceeded our expectations and is without a doubt the best holiday experience we’ve had.The lodge is beautiful, authentic and a relaxing space to chill out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.Leok took us on 2 fantastic drives where we had the most amazing sightings of animals, not to mention the herd of elephants that wondered past our room when we arrived memories we will never forgot.Ilse produced the most wonderful food at the lodge, so tasty and beautifully presented. We had a lovely last evening meal round the campfire with Leok and Ilse which was a lovely way to end our stay. We hope to return and recommend anyone to book a stay at Lengau. Thanks for the most amazing stay, it’s was perfect
