Athanor-Hogsback Self Catering Cottages

Quaint, cozy clean spacious with a wonderful garden and a lovely walk down to the stream. The up walk was quite challenging and the views and birds are to die for!!!

The cottage has all the amenities one requires when away from home. It was comfortable and clean and the hosts were helpful with their guidance of activities taking place. It was a bit difficult to find initially when arriving in a thick Hogsback mist but thereafter you appreciate that it is more secluded and has a wonderful garden that leads down to a stream at the bottom of the property.

Had the most awful episode of my travelling experience when I was verbally attacked by the owner in a 5min tirade after I invaded their privacy" by walking in their "private" lounge area (which I was not aware of).This most abhorrent behaviour is something I feel is completely unacceptable in the service/tourism industry and certain does not represent the lovely town of Hogsback.A truly awful experience."

Not what we expected for the price. Should rather have stayed at the hotel rather than a private B&B

The best accommodation in Hogsback. My girlfriend and I were tempted to give Athanor a negative review simply to keep this little gem to ourselves. From the telephone call to inquire about availability, till our early morning exit three days later, we were treated with the utmost sincerity and helpfulness that you just don't get these days. The one bedroom cottage we stayed in offered incredible space that is uncommon to self-catering cottages. You are spoiled with breathtaking views of the mountains outside on the grass while enjoying a glass of wine and losing track of time with the soundtrack of absolute serenity and peace. The living room was the highlight for us as the fireplace warmed up the entire cottage witha big crate of wood provided by the owners. The bed was by far the most comfortable we experienced in recent times and the kitchen offers an abundance of crockery, plates, Tupperware and tools - there's even a top notch braaiset and webber which was cleaned every morning by the friendly staff.We initially booked for one night, and on arrival extended our stay to three - that should tell you everything.Michiel & Rachelle
