We chose to celebrate my father-in-law's 91st birthday at Olive and Oil, Pietermaritzburg.Initially, I couldn't get through on the landline to make a reservation so tried sending an email. To be honest I wasn't expecting a reply, but was pleasantly surprised when I did, in fact, receive a reply a few minutes later! The reservation was taken care of promptly!The food was good and the service was exceptional. Thuli, our waitron, was very kind and accommodating. She was very patient and respectful when asked to repeat certain things. She is a delightful young lady.

My experience was very pleasant.There's a weekday special where you get a three course meal and a complimentary glass of wine for R170.To get there take a taxi from the New Rank going to Cascades(R12)

Such beautifully created courses and plate settings. Tasteful mouthfuls. The only reason I gave 1 less star is because it is a long wait before the food gets to your table from the kitchen. Other than that this restaurant is lovely and is a esthetically pleasant.

Our waiter was not very attentive. He was mainly chatting to the patrons at the next table. He took ages to bring dessert menus so much so we nearly didn't order them. Glad we did as that was the best part of my meal. My fish n salad was very bland. Then the waiter once again took a millennium to bring the bill! Very strange. For a Monday night we were amazed how full it was. Usually indicates good food at good value. Maybe it was the case that management were off that night.

The food was alright. It was the vibe and the service that was exceptional for me. The restaurant overlooks a stream with a bridge over it. It is definitely such a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. The waiters did the best they could to satisfy all our needs. We went there for my hubby's birthday dinner so I requested that they bring in cake and help me sing for him which they did! Would love to go there again.

10/10 For everything. Will absolutely be visiting again. Food was amazing, service was beyond amazing and the atmosphere was just how it should be. And the price, seen more expensive places with not even half the service and atmosphere. And you get what you pay for. Really impressed.

They are closed for renovations. We phoned and phoned and phoned to make a booking but got their answering machine each time - please leave a message".You would think they'd put a message on the answering machine that they are closed...!?We decided to just arrive without a booking- that's how we found out they are closed.All was not lost as we had dinner at Atasca Portuguese restaurant

Located in a very therapeutic environment, the stream softly trickles behind you whilst breathing in fresh unpolluted air in a picturesque game-like setting. The food was delightful, different, fresh and very reasonably price. In this day and age where can you find a 3 course meal for R160? The one star was taken by the waiter who disappeared for an hour, and subsequently forgot our desert order. At that point I was too frustrated to even order again and wait once more. But other than I recommend this establishment.
