The stairs are actually not very bad from a chubby asthmatic girls point of view... Totally love this place. Absolutely enjoyed every minute of my stay.

Beautiful views of the ocean and the mountain. The stairs are a challenge but manageable. Thanks Dee for assisting with the luggage The breakfast was delicious, Dee's mushrooms are to die for.

Stayed for 2 days. Nice little place with friendly staff. The stairs from main road is a real challenge. Loved them though early morning coming from jogging. Rooms are spacious, great sea view from balcony. Very good value for your money, meaty breakfast included.

We had an amazing time here! The view is incredible, the food was amazing and the service excellent. The only thing, as the website states, those stairs are no joke. Do some exercise before you come, you'll thank me later. Take as few things as possible, and remember to take everything you'll need out of the car, you wouldn't want to do a second trip to the car.

My husband and I travelled for business, and our client booked us into the Bluebottle Guesthouse. Despite the address being correct on Google Maps, we struggled to find the guesthouse. It was also challenging to find parking, which is outside on the street.Upon arrival, we were surprised to learn we had to climb about 150 steps to reach our destination. With all our luggage, the climb was challenging (I tore a ligament in my foot a few weeks ago and was still recovering). Andrew, the owner, met us at the guesthouse. Our client never arranged for early check-in, but Dee (the manager) accommodated us in another room - 5-star service! The room was spacious and had a workstation and decent wi-fi. The shower was too small for my tall husband, who has the build of a rugby player. When we mentioned it to Dee upon check-out, she said she would make a note so that when we book again, she will give us a room with a more spacious shower. The balcony of the rooms on the second floor has an impressive ocean view! I missed a decent set of chairs outside our room (my husband and I love sitting outside watching the ocean during the day and the stars at night).Dee cooks a decent breakfast! My spinach and feta omelette was perfect, and my husband loved his traditional breakfast with bacon and eggs.Overall, we had a fantastic stay and will not hesitate to book a room at the Bluebottle Guesthouse again.

Perfect for that much needed get away. Great service with a smile. Tasty food to make you feel looked after. Comfortable bed and room to help you relax. Views that need to be seen. Wonderful experience. Thank you! I'll walk those stairs to visit again.

NOTE- Over 130 stair steps up from the road plus a few more up to the room so pack light!! (We didn’t and regretted hailing a 25kg all the way up)Totally the climb though! Amazing views from our bedroom window, the “load shedding” blackout made the stars gorgeous and seeing the gorgeous sunrise colours over the bay from our bed was a wonderful way to wake up.Breakfast was delicious too!

The owners of the guest house should make it very clear that the twin/double room booked, does not have an on-suite bathroom and that guests need to walk through a communal living room to access the bathroom. Although booking.com states the room has a bathroom, it is not advised this is not on-suite.The guesthouse is well situated and clean there is a lot of shared living space and has more of a boarding house feel than a guesthouse.
