Root 44 Market and Wine Emporium
The Restaurant was lovely and the food was delicious. The waiter was friendly and efficient.Having eaten at The Restaurant, there was very little to do in the rest of the market since most of the stalls sold food. There were a few arts and crafts stalls. The scenery, however, is breathtaking and if you want to experience some fresh air whilst looking at the mountains changing colours throughout the day, then this is a place to do do it. It is pet friendly, having areas where dogs can drink water. Large grassed areas to sit on or for children to play on. The flowers are beautiful.

What a satisfying experience on a Fridatly night at the upper deck of ROOT 44. The food is delicious, medium priced I would say, with a variety from burgers, to pizzas to sushi and much more. Wine cocktails (not hard liquor cocktails) are served and is really good. There is a band every Friday night and we danced the night away to familiar great songs and if you don't wanna dance, sing along to the music and rock in your chair. It is really worth your while going. There is alot of space and the ambiance is welcoming, modern, funky and cozy. There is an art gallery with amazing paintings that the rich and famous can afford, but well worth looking at and admiring.

A great market where food and art meet beautifully. Various amazing food and drinks stalls; there's a bit of everything for everyone. There are tables set up both inside and outside. The outdoor area has a beautiful lawn where people can sit and enjoy the food with a view. This market is ideal for families and it is also dog friendly There's a restaurant upstairs for those that would prefer a more formal dining set up. Various artists have their art on display and for sale. The art definitely adds to the aesthetic of the market.

We went to the restaurant for lunch. Everything was amazing , they have killer wine cocktails and amazing food. I didn't take pictures of our starters. The oysters, calamari and sushi were fresh and delicious . Taku, Duma and the rest of the team were pure perfection. This is now my new favourite spot.

This place is absolutely mind-blowing. We went as a small group and had an incredible experience. The venue caters to all sorts. They have a fantastic kids section with toilets in close proximity... If your kids prefer to run outside, they cater for this as well. The variety of food stalls will definitely be able to serve any and all different taste buds, and the quality of food was just remarkable. I would highly recommend this place for a family day out or even friends getting together.

Had a really amazing wine tasting experience at Root 44 before lunch at the restaurant.Opted for the red and white wines which is a tasting of 5 various wines from different estates and they change weekly. Kids got to do a milkshake and sweet pairing. Will definitely return for a wine tasting and some shopping at the wine Emporium. Didn't try any of the food vendors but definitely will on the next visit.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Root 44 in Stellenbosch, and I must say, it was an experience worth savoring. From the moment I stepped inside the state-of-the-art building, I was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and the seamless blend of style and quality. One of the highlights of Root 44 is undoubtedly the wide array of food options available. The market area on the ground floor offers a delightful selection of foods from around the world. Each dish I tried was a true delight, and the flavors were simply amazing. Whether you have a penchant for international cuisine or prefer local delicacies, Root 44 has something to satisfy every palate. While most of the activities are indoors, there are also lawns available for those who prefer to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. Although the natural views are somewhat limited, the distant mountains add a touch of serenity to the surroundings. What truly sets Root 44 apart is its tranquil ambiance, making it an ideal destination for family outings or a romantic date. One of the highlights of my visit was the wine tasting experience on the first floor. As I indulged in the wide selection of Stellenbosch wines, I was accompanied by the enchanting melodies of opera music, creating a truly captivating atmosphere. The wine emporium also features an art gallery, sports bar, oyster bar, coffee shop, and a restaurant, making it a hub for culture and gastronomy enthusiasts alike.I was particularly impressed by the level of safety and the friendly staff at Root 44. Throughout my time there, I felt completely secure, and the staff members were welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. Their warmth added an extra layer of enjoyment to my overall experience. If you're looking for a place to relish excellent food, partake in wine tastings, and appreciate the arts, Root 44 is a must-visit destination. Its peaceful ambiance, coupled with the remarkable variety of culinary delights, makes it an ideal spot for creating lasting memories. Whether you're seeking a family outing or a romantic escapade, Root 44 offers an unforgettable experience that will leave you longing to return.

Perfect brunch, lunch and diner indoor food market if you are around the Stellenbosch R44 route. It is massive with many food stalls serving from seafood, sushi, pizza, vegetarian, vegan and carnivorous meals that caters for many. A wide variety of beer and wine can be found here. Lots of place to sit and even outside has a beautiful garden with shade for families and kids to eat or relax. The ground floor is food stalls and second floor is the Root44 sit in reatuarant and wine tasting area. All food are delicious and highly worth a visit and enjoy the experience.

WOW. All I can say, is you MUST make time to go there. Never seen so many food stall options under one roof. And many dessert options, including divine fudge kiosks. There's a few bars too. Pricing is a tad higher than normal, but the experience is amazing. Sit in or take away. All the seating is open to any of the food places, so no reservations. The end (right at the back) of the hall was quite empty, lots of open tables, and also a bit quieter. Inside is very loud and busy. There are tables in front of the lawn but they fill up real quick. Apparently the food places are only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in summer and Saturdays and Sundays in winter. This is what I was told, so check their website for updates .
