Collection of Smart ID 10:32-14:051st Smart ID application: I approached this office of DHA 5 times to take photos & finger prints for my smart ID. Each time I wasn't assisted. I was assisted at Ceres DHA & it took 9 minutes.2nd Smart ID application: I approached this office of DHA 2 times to take photos & finger prints for my smart ID. Each time I wasn't assisted. I was assisted at Standerton DHA & it took 50 minutes.Closes earlier than other Department of Home Affairs front offices (30 & 31 Dec 2021), when it was announced on national radio that the DHA would remain open until 18:00. I was visiting with the intent of fetching my Smart ID.Had to visit this office 7 times for a change of surname application:1. 26 Mar 2021, 11:45-13:30 supervisor (Bongani) not there2. 1 Apr 2021, 10:00-13:15 DHA officials left early in Nelspruit due to Good Friday next day. Supervisor requested me to come back another day.3. 16 Apr 2021, 10:05-10:40 DHA auditors from Nelspruit at offices. Supervisor could not assist me.4. 7 May 2021, 11:00-13:00 supervisor not available.5. 14 May 2021, 10:45-12:35 supervisor not there, but Michael got Ndumiso to assist me.6. 21 May 2021, 11:00 office open but not operational due to no water.7. 31 May 2021, 08:35-12:45 supervisor requested me to complete notice of birth form without birth date. Submitted application.

I have done my initial application on the 4 september 2017. Its been almost 3 months and my claim has not been approved as yet due to systems malfunction for a week, documents mislayed hence resubmission process going on for 5 weeks, further delay due to printer and scanner dysfunction. I have been calling every few days and no one seems to be able to assist me with my claim with adequate information!! My most recent encounter involved me calling yesterday morning were i was told that my claim had been rejected and i need to come in get a bank form, have it stamped at the bank and resubmit. Upon arrival at home affairs when checked on the system i was told i dont need to resubmit my bank form but rather my document that i have already submitted twice is still outstanding!! What is going on here!!!

I had a good experience. Sure I was there from 05:10 in the morning and only left at 09:40 (apparently the system was offline for a while). But I was impressed with the employees - they all arrived well before 08:00 (the opening time) and were friendly and professional

A typical example of how lazy and incapable South African public workers are.They could cut costs by entirely disconnecting their phones since they never pick them cause they're all divas.

The place is always packed..you literally have to go there at 5am to be assisted at 9. The employees are very polite but the system just doesn't want. Anyone can cheat the queue and when it rains it's a nightmare. The people that do copies next to it queue for people for money

We arrived 4am in the morning, we were number 1 in the que, but it's 10:24now, still sitting outsise

So you can stand and wait and wait....Only to understand nothing cause they only talk a language which I don't understand (which isn't English)
