Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge

We had a wonderful time here in October and really enjoyed the game drives in the open safari all-wheel drive. The drivers were super friendly, spoke English very well and gave us an amazing time.The lodghe itself was very well staffed with a super lovely team. Everyone was so kind and helpful and the bbq food in the evening was simply the highlight of the day!The rooms itself were spacious, clean and well maintained.

This vacation unexpectedly startet with a health incident of my girlfriend happened in Capetown, which led to the situation that we couldn’t take our flight to Johannesburg on time and were forced to postpone it for one day.Tony and the team of Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge acted extremely caring and allowed us to rebook our stay free of charge at their hotel with one day delay – even if that was not within the official cancellation policies.We are now even more grateful to be their guests for the upcoming days, knowing that customer focus is very well positioned at this guest-friendly game reserve.

The food was excellent. The rooms were very tidy and smelled nice. Beautiful game drives and warm towels upon arrival. All around a great experience!

I cannot begin to express how wonderful Mohlabetsi was for me and my family. Everyone that works there is so wonderful, so thoughtful and such attention to detail. The food was incredible, day after day! Everything is homemade and absolutely delicious. The accommodations are extremely comfortable and clean. I loved the outdoor shower :)The drives are fantastic too! We saw the big 5 in just 4 days! Sincerely magical! I only hope I can come back. Thank you to everyone working there for making such a memorable experience.

As novices, we were a bit apprehensive about not being in Kruger Park itself, but our stay at Mohlabetsi was a once in a lifetime trip that exceeded all expectations and was surely far better than what we would have experienced at Kruger.We could enjoy two safari drives a day, sometimes driving off road, being very close to the animals, also thanks to the amazing rangers (Lucky and Richard) and their knowledge of the reserve and nature in general. This meant that we saw the big 5 during our first drive, and had very close encounters with lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, giraffes and much more.We stayed in the Lily Impala Suite, which was beautiful, luxurious and authentic in equal measure with direct views out into the bush. Nina, Jacques, Tony, and the lodge team were incredibly welcoming and took really good care of us. The food was delicious and eating out each night by firelight at the Boma was truly memorable.We can’t recommend Mohlabetsi highly enough and hope to return!

5 stars exceptional experience !! My partner and I stayed at the lodge 4 nights over New Year’s Eve in 2021. It was our first time in SA and going on safari and everything we experienced exceeded our expectations! Highlights were definitely the game drives, led by very experienced rangers Hamilton and Richard, who were able “to track down” the big five for us; the very personal service we were offered when it came to vegan / vegetarian options and of course the overall exceptional hospitality and amenities. The rooms are spacious, clean and allow for privacy from other guests. There is always the opportunity to relax at the clean pool or the common space with carefully selected South African wines and beers , while watching the animals (even elephants!) wandering past the safe lodge’s fence! We will definitely come back!

We had a wonderful time in Mahlabetsi Safari lodgeWe stayed here 5 days/4 nightsThe service is fantasticThe safari tour starts from 5-9 amBreakfast after thatLunch at 2 pmAnd Safari tour from 4-7 pmDinner at 8 pm.More important thing is we found many interesting wildlife and the ranger always explain and stop or move when we want a better photo shot.The guests also very nice and friendly from all over the world, mainly European.However I found the set up group for Safari tour is a bit weird, as we stayed there very long we would like to see some other new animals but because they kept adding new guests in our car, so we kept seeing big 5 games (as much as we can) I ended up having thousand of Leopards, Rhino, Elephants etc...I understand this is good for new guests as they all want to see big 5 but we saw them and we want to explore new animals

Three perfect days with amazing game drives in the morning and afternoon. Lucky and Richard were a perfect team and brought us very close to all the animals, amazing experience! The lodge itself is beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The rooms are spacious, the outdoor showers very nice :). Nice and clean pool. The meals were excellent, including dinners under starry night skies with lions roaring in the background. Very friendly staff. Really recommend this place!

The hospitality offered here is top-notch. The food is phenomenal - the best I have had at a hotel in years. The rooms are very nice. The grounds are well kept. The game drives were great. One evening we saw all the Big Five. And of course every drive was very productive. But there was so much more too. You just can't go wrong here. I mean warm, scented towels when you return from your dusty drive! What a wonderful treat.

Mohlabetsi is a good value budget/mid priced safari camp. Rondavals were clean & tidy. Staff were friendly and attentive. Too much food for me, but meals were good quality, plentiful and served in lovely surroundings. Wildlife is the main reason for coming and I saw the big 5 and much more but the bush in May was still very thick and made viewing at times difficult.Guides could offer more information on sightings especially to my companions who had never safaried before. Game vechicles need a bit of an uplift. Would I go again to Mohlabetsi, only if I was looking for a cheaper safari experience but a good choice for first timers.
