Art Classes Pretoria | The Art Room | Gauteng | The Art Room was founded in 1992 by, artist and writer, Diane Welvering, and has been located in Pretoria East ever since. Using a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, printmaking, in our well-equipped art studio, we offer workshops and classes to enhance the creative spark and spirit in everyone.

I have the pleasure of taking art classes with Diane, and I’m enjoying the classes immensely! The art room also has a printing press and I have already had the opportunity to print collagraphs using the intaglio method. Diane is extremely knowledgeable and a great art facilitator!

Best experience, would have loved to do more classes. It was relaxed and you could figure out how to use different mediums with guidance. Dianne is great teacher, she assisted when you asked or was lost. She always allowed you to discover what worked for you, and not what standard rules dictate, helping you to think more creatively. This was a safe space to create and learn. A great confidence booster!

Diane is such a lovely and knowledgeable arts teacher to me and my three kids. She caters for our different levels perfectly. I would recommend The Art Room to anyone who wants to introduce new or upgrade their artistic skills and techniques, loves to be creative and looking for a fun, relaxed, yet informative art class experience.

Wonderful exprienceA 5 star rating does not do the Art Studio justice, run by a very amazing artist with good attention to detail. I had a wonderful experience being taught by Diane how to be the best artist i can be, her patients and motivation is fantastic, You will leave the art studio feeling like you are the next Vincent van Gogh. I would defiantly recomend other inspiring artist to the Art studio.

The Art Room has no lessons. You will not be given paint by number tutorials on how to become a clone of the teacher you are following. Rather you will be guided along your own path, following your own interests and setting your own goals. With the very experienced, but gentle hand helping you along the way and the wide variety of mediums available, you will soon be on your way to becoming a great artist.I cannot recommend it enough.And with your first lesson being free of charge, I don't see why you anyone should not give it a go.

I had the opportunity to go to a couple of classes with Diane.She has got such an easy going and calming personality.I felt at ease from the first moment I set foot into her studio.I had NO idea where to start or if I could even draw anything.After the first lesson I was already so inspired to just start drawing everything I see.I saw some of Diane's work in person and I was blown over by her amazing skills and use of so many art tecniques that I can only dream of developing myself.You can immediately see and almost feel all the years of experience bubbling out of her eyes that she just wants to share with everybody.Thx DianeD

My daughter loves art class…. I think variation in art mediums is perfect to allow exploration of different sensory inputs for primary school age children.
