Sani Lodge Backpackers

I really enjoyed the four days I spent with the fine folk of Sani Lodge. Accommodation was basic and sparse but perfect for a solo traveler and perfectly priced too. Perhaps the best part of Sani Lodge is the perpetually smiling helpful staff.

Food was bad, specially the dinners. Food was cold. Lamb tjops not tender and rare. After a complain it was the same the next day. Also the oxtail portion very small. The food is weigh and limited to 300 grams with all the bones . I ask for more oxtail and the manager tell me to order and pay for the meal. First time I experience this feedback.

Magical mountain retreat which is peaceful and lush! We stayed in one of the Rondavels and found it perfect. The hike to the natural pools and waterfall is a must do, as is their homemade cheese.

We were greeted by friendly staff even with the weather moving in. An incredible spot to take a break from reality. Rooms are simple and comfortable. Would recommend for a weekend away

A great, budget-friendly place to stay. The views are amazing and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and common areas are clean, with everything you need provided. I was particularly fond of the domestic cats roaming around, even had one sleep in my room after I invited it in. Overall, would definitely visit again.

I stayed at Sani Lodge Backpackers for 3 day 2 nights and did the Sani Pass day tour. Incredible experience overall. Room and facilities were clean and organized. The vibe across the lodge was warm, welcoming and clearly built with a lot of heart over the years. The food at Giants Cup Cafe, especially the fresh milk, was delicious! Neil, our guide for the Sani Pass day tour was very knowledgeable and friendly. Russell was very informative and helpful even before I booked my stay, patiently supplying me with information about travelling across Lesotho and tailoring a best-fit plan. Also had a great time with Mondli who drove me from the lodge and into Semonkong, Lesotho. Most of all, i respect the effort and heart the team has taken to build fair trade tourism with the local communities. Thank you for the hospitality!

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Made us feel welcome. We enjoyed camping there and having a dip in the pool.Would recommend this place if you want to getaway and relax in nature.

Stunning place to orientate yourself in the Drakensberg - friendly advice, brilliant range of tours and activities and all conscientiously supporting local people and eco-tourism. Topped with amazing fresh produce from their farm and hearty fresh dinners after a day's hiking! Also really clean and professional accommodation.

Lovely cut grass for camping, ablutions are clean and well kept. Upon arrival the receptionists wasn't really informative about where the camp site is. We went looking for it but all the lights were off and we had trouble finding a camping spot. Only one light outside for the entire camping site. Didn't have power points. In the morning around 06H00 we were woken up by staff opening and closing the barn door next to us constantly and loud talking. Not the most pleasant experience.

We camped for 1 night and didn't have the best experience. The bathrooms was really neat and well kept, but unfortunately when we arrived, all of the lights in the camping area was off and we were unable to completely understand where our allocated camping site was. During the next morning we were woken up just after 06h00 by workers opening and closing shed doors next to our tent and talking extremely loud.
