Our dogs loved all the different sights and smells at Danielsrust Game Farm (Cradle of humankind) this morning.We did the 5km trail which was flat, easy and suitable for novices. 10km, 15km, pram friendly, cycling and biking routes are available. This venue is conveniently located right on the doorstop of Jozi residents.The plains are decorated with a wide variety of herds of game. The highlight of our day was a herd of Wildebeest running in the distance. Unfortunately we did not get close enough to any wildlife to take good pictures of them but there is an abundance of wildlife here. I regret that we did not have time to do the 10km as that trail seemed to wind straight into the plains where all the wildlife were grazing.We were fortunate enough to hike on an overcast and cool day. On a sunny day you will have to be sure to stay well hydrated as the plains are vast and open without much shade.Entrance is R50 cash which is very reasonable. The venue has an honesty box you will use to deposit your dues before you set out on your adventures.Sundays are dog walk days on the farm. They will accept dogs on other days as long as you arrange this with managent prior to the day. I booked via Facebook messenger and they were very responsive to my messages.If you are looking for a relaxing and safe walk amongst antelope, ostrich and Wildebeest then this would be the spot for you.

The first time we rode our bikes here, I was blown away that you can ride amongs zebra, wildebeest, springbok etc. And could get so close!!! It felt like miles away from civilisation, yet is a stone throw from the Cradle.We want to go back but heard you now allow hunters on the shooting range. Is it still safe ? My husband says he is scared of all the cowboys.

Pretty nice riding. Very few trail markers but that’s not really what it is about - explore and ride around as you wish.

Daniëlsrust is a great place to visit to go have a picknick, do one of the hiking trails or take a ride on your mountain bike. Being a game farm the scenery is great and you will encounter a variety of antelope, smaller mammals like meercat and warthog. The animals are used to people and tame enough for you to get quite close to them. They also sport a very nice shooting range including shotgun, handgun and rifle ranges, including long distance ranges up to 1 km. The fact that you book out a range beforehand giving you 2 hours of use of the range means that you do not have to wait for other shooters to finish shooting before you can go look at or change your targets. I thoroughly enjoy this shooting range. Remember to contact them before hand to book a shooting range.

Beautiful farm with plenty of activities and wild life. The Wattle rifle range inside the farm is well maintained, the facilities are excellent and the owners are awesome people.

An amazing hidden gem. Fantastic hiking trials. A great shooting range, clean, well kept and properly organized to ensure safety.The hiking trails are clean, very well marked and not strenious.An absolute must visit place. Make sure you have enough water for the hotter summer months.The water troughs bring a welcome and refreshing cooling down opportunity for four legged friends who accompany you on your hike.

Amazing place. Can see the animals are not afraid of humans which is the best part that they never had a reason to fear us because you got to see them up close. Really a great spot to hike
