Service when at this Home Affairs is good. BUT, do not answer their phones at all. There is no way to communicate with them to confirm if a document is ready for collection or not.

Absolutely horrific! We got to Home Affairs at about 04:35AM.. In the winter, it's dark and cold at that time. We brought camp chairs and blankets. Sat in the coldness for about 2 and a half hours until the sun started rising. As the sun was rising, more and more people started coming in.. and it also seemed as if people were keeping spots for other people aswell. We weren't so back from the front of the line. 08:30AM came. Home affairs staff arrived. The line soon was in position as people thought would go in. Just for us people who came so early in the morning to know that people from yesterday (previous) day had tickets and had first preference! It was a nightmare. The line started moving along. 09:40AM came and a lady came to inform us that they were closed for the day. My family and I were right at the gate when she did say this. She then said she would give the first 10 people tickets to atleast get in the gate. We gladly accepted those tickets. Hours and hours had gone by and we still hadn't seen a difference in the queues. We then experienced load-shedding from 12PM to 15:30PM. Everything was offline. We then waited until the power came back on. The same lady told us that it would take 30 minutes for the systems to reboot. After reboots, things started going much faster. At about 17:45PM, my family and I went in. Did the biometrics and waited in that queue. They took forever to call out numbers! Not to mention how disgraceful that place is. Walls haven't had a paint job in moons, seats are broken, toilets are FILTHY. No toilet paper, soap, toilet seats, smelt really bad, pee everywhere, etc. It was just overall bad! It was then around 19:30PM when they called us. The adults had gotten their passports renewed but they said that the kid's passports were blocked from the system. How ridiculous!!! Now we have to drive back here to get the kid's passports and come right back to collect them. Staff was very unfriendly. For us, towards the end, they were a little more kind because we couldn't renew for the kids. We left there at 20:00PM!! Can you believe it? A whole 16 hours at Home Affairs Scottburgh! It's absolutely ri-di-cu-lo-us.

Booking system is in place but limited slots and system not clear as to the extent of time into the future that can be booked. No walk in was accepted so not sure how people without internet are accommodated. Instead of Queing only in location you now queue with the whole country online at 5am every morning trying to get an open slot.

First people be realistic. It's still home affairs. However. They are as efficient as they can be given the tools they have to work with. Every staff member was courteous and helpful. Got here at 6am was done just before midday. (they only open doors at 8am so early to secure good place in queue) although queues look shorter later in day.

I was at Scottburgh home affairs today, had an appointment for 10:00am-11:00am arrived there and there was loadshedding until 11:00am so we waited and the power came back but the systems were down supposedly" as no one bothered to inform people waiting outside as the office staff came and go as they please without a single word

The worst service you can get from a public service department! The logo is We Care" but there is no seating outside. No assistance to elderly people!Elderly people must stand for the whole day! We spent 8 and half hours to renew our passports. They only assist 50 people per day which is a joke because they are not efficient. One station to assist all the people on passport an id renewals. Too many chiefs and not enough workers! Lunch breaks when ever they feel like it with no alternative to assist the public! no control from supervisor!"

The place is not as busy as other HA . The staff are really trying but I noticed that the confusion occurred when the security took your paperwork and went inside. A little more fine tunning and they will be 100%. Well done guys for making an effort
