Laird's Arms Pub (Matjiesfontein)
Very quaint pub which sets you back in time. We enjoyed the pub lunch served on Heritage Day - lamb curry and rice was really delicious. The venison burger served with potatoe wedges was also great. Great cuppucinos as well. Friendly service. Inside and outside seating. Well worth taking a break here

Nice place for a cold one. The tour guide is very entertaining on the piano. Wednesday can be quite hectic due to the blue train tourist from Cape Town.

Such an amazing 1880's Style Pub, with such a great atmosphere. The Pub Food is a small menu served between 12:00 and 14:30 , a d I personally recommend the Venison Burger accompanied with a local Matjiesfontein Lager beer. There is live piano music played by an emblematic character a waiting staff dressed in Victorian attire that transport you back to the past!I totally recommend visitors to drop in and enjoy the vibe.

When in Matjiesfontein you should pop in to The Laird's Arms for a drink. This bar truly has the classic, old-school feel that you expect from a historical town bar, both inside and out. They have relatively standard drinks available, and while you are sipping away you get entertained by some old-school live piano music and singing. You can also go on a mini ghost tour with one of the staff members while you are there. If you haven't yet stopped over here, then make a plan to do so, you won't be disappointed.

Visited here today and it had a lovely ambience with the piano playing and barman and waitresses dressed in traditional clothing. A true trip back to the Vicrorian age in the modern day Karoo! And beer. Delicious, cold, awesome beer.

Step back in time. As you enter through the tall swing door with beautiful glass detail another world greets you. On the left you will find a fire burning and to the right a man sitting at the piano playing songs from your childhood. The bar area is beautifully preserved to remain true to its origins. Furniture resembles a typical old English style pub. Service is friendly and helpful. Staff will gladly elaborate on the story of Matjiesfontein and suggest activities while you visit. Small lunch menu with tasty and well presented food options. Just remember when you ring the bell you buy the next round for all the people in the bar.
