Great short walks in the reserve, longest is about 6.2km with some hills, build up a nice sweat. Stunning views from the top.

We did an easy walk on the hill with a guide. Watched the sunset at the top and moon rise through a telescope. Coffee and muffins served at the top. R100 including entrance

One of my favourit hiking spots in the Northern Suburbs. This spot has numerous hiking trails. My favourite one is the tortis one with a spot. The view of capetown is unbelievable up from above. Remember your R15 entrants fee. This hike is not for the faint hearted as going to the top of the hill you need to be fit. There isn't alot of shade so bring some sunscreen.Enjoy!

Went there on the morning of 13 December 2022 to hike. Got lost when I put the address 1 Totius Street in as the GPS took me to Kanonberg Estate. Had to phone and found that the physical address is 27 Totius Street, Welgemoed. The gate was open and no one was in sight in order for me to pay the admission fee. There is a sign stating as of 1 December 2022, an admission fee will be implemented. We opted to start with the Tortoise hiking trail which was really easy and fast (less than 1 hour to get to the top). We too lots of pictures of the beautiful scenery and the canon. Because we had time we opted to continue the hike and see where the rest of the trails lead. There were sufficient guide boards to assist you on the hike. The towers are definitely good landing marks. We basically did 3/4 trails (starting at 10h29am) and ended just after 2pm.The weather was deceiving as it was cloudy when we started but cleared up during the hike. The trails were cleanish, only saw 2 bottles littered where people were seated. The trails weren't pack but we saw about 3 people also hiking. This place is great if you'd like to get some hiking in. It seems ok for kids (I had my 12 year old nephew with) but I'm not sure about toddlers. The picnic areas are located in nice areas. We saw one toilet facility on our way back, just opposite the main picnic area. There were adequate benches to take in the beautiful scenery.
