Eagles Karate - Rooihuiskraal

Our son has been practicing Karate at Eagles since last year and he has had a great experience for this entire time. I make a point of asking him how classes went every time and his response has always been positive. It is a shame that other reviewers have encouraged others that don't even have a child attending Eagles karate club to leave bad comments based on the camp that they have no direct connection to. Our son certainly had a great time despite the poor weather and I commend the sensei for their creativity to still make it a worthwhile and constructive experience.

We as a family are so happy we enrolled our kids with Eagles. In all the years we have had nothing but great memories and excellent training. Our kids love every class, kamp and competition. Thank you to Sensei Rudi and Team.

My kids love their time at Eagles karate! They are not only learning self defense, but also discipline, confidence, self control and a great sense of accomplishment. Fabulous for boys and girls alike.

My daughter loved every minute of the camp. So much so that she told us that she will never miss a camp again. Thank you to all involved in the arrangements and caretaking of our little ones. Special thanks to the various Sensei's for all the lessons provided this weekend.

My kids learned a lot of new skills at the karate camp. I am very pleased with how classes are presented and how the kids are treated. I often find them laughing during class and they always have a lot to tell afterwards. This is just an indication of how much they’re enjoying and learning.

I regret enrolling my black son to this Karate school. Especially sending him to the Karate Camp. I sent him there with hopes that he’d learn more Karate but instructions were often in Afrikaans. Like, what’s the point?! Being the only black kid there, he said he had to watch what others were doing in order to keep up and would ask one of the kids to translate but the kid would sometimes forget or be too far away to ask. Even after asking Rudi to be more accommodating and speak both languages, he proceeded to engage the group in Afrikaans and even sent a general WhatsApp update in Afrikaans! My son had no one sleeping next to him and often had no one to talk to because they do not encourage unity and oneness. When I enquired about the language difference before the Camp, Rudi said and I quote him verbatim, “I cannot speak English at a camp where 99% of the people there speak Afrikaans, if he doesn’t understand then he can just raise his hand and I’ll translate.” Well, my son did just that and was ignored! As if my son did not pay as much as everyone else there!I HIGHLY do not recommend this school. I advise you try elsewhere as your kid might not go very far with Karate here. Not worth contractually binding yourself for a year. I honestly regret it. Please save your money!

Fantastic karate club with a variety of great instructors. The kids who are interested in sport karate and competitions usually rank among the top athletes. Couldn't ask for better.

This establishment should not even be given any stars. It is sad that still in 2022 , we a still dealing with businesses that mistreat people more especially kids of colour. My 6 year old nephew who was the only black child at the camp was excluded purposefully just because he is black. He also faced exclusion on the basics of language. Afrikaans was mostly used at the camp with no care whether my nephew understood or not. The camp did not encourage unity or oneness amongst the children, my nephew had no one sleeping on the beds next to him and above him.
