4 Watt Str, Gordon’s Bay.This is probably the fisheries we use the most as my husband and I enjoy buying our regular fish, chips and calamari and then have it on the beach which is about a minutes drive from the fisheries! Their fish is always fresh, crispy and delicious! And this is why we keep going back time after time

The fish is always fresh and the batter crispy. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. A great spot for a quick and delicious meal.

Honestly, a solid fish and chips spot in the Helderberg area. Ordered the Ooskus special to share between 3 people and the portion size was enough for all of us. The garlic sauce is delicious, and the tartar sauce is one of the better ones I've tried. Although the calamari is lightly crumbed, it's quite good. Generally, the fish and calamari can be more seasoned. The seating area is really not good. Very cramped and small. BUT, service was great, with friendly staff and not too long a wait for your meal. At first, they seem a little expensive, but the portions are well sized, which makes it worthwhile.

Visited Ooskus on the recommendation of a friend. I was definitely not disappointed.Food was good, service was quick. We ordered and sat outside.Even though it was a beautiful sunny day..there was the typical cape town wind blowing.Tip if you order hake and chips order a parcel instead..value for money. The fish melts in your mouth, the calamari is to die for and the mussels..cooked to perfection. Instead of buying individual drinks you can also do a 2lt cooldrink and cups if your are sitting down. I definitely recommend u sit down and eat while it the is still hot..

My first time here and it won't be the last. The food was well prepared and generous portions. Personnel were friendly, had time for a joke or two and I didn't have to wait long for my order. The place was clean and the smell of fish baking welcomed you in. If I ever pass Gordens Bay again, this will be the first place I'll stop.

The meal was visually appealing but looks can be deceptive. Whats the saying about not judging a book by its cover? The portions were resealable in size but the quality of the fish was far from A-grade. The fish was overly fresh and lacked flavour. The pickled onions were the highlight of the meal although the sugar content was quite high. The calamari was an anticlimax as well. Not worth the waiting time of 45 minutes.

This little shop, circled in red in my 1st pic, is so easy to miss but please don’t miss it. Actually make a trip just to try their food, it’s worth it. I tried a platter for 1 and it was more than enough for 2, i ordered extra which I had to take away. All in my pics for R200, it’s a steal.Price aside though, the food is excellent. The crisp and taste of the batter, combined with the freshness of all the ingredients, makes this the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Their sauces are good as well, even the potato chips are perfectly blanched and fried. The location too is just perfect under the Helderberg mountains, and not far from the beach. It takes a little while to prepare your order, so it may be good to phone your order through before arrival, the number is on my bill. Preparation only starts on order, which is great if you really want the best.I’ve tried most of the best Fish places in the UK as well, and most in Cape Town too. This place may be the reason that all others will not get a 5 star from me.

When you call in advance to place an order, the food is basically ready when you get there. The food is always fresh and well prepared. It has become a regular family favourite.

You learn soon enough that the best tactic is to phone in your order and collect in about 30 minutes. Unless, of course, you are looking for an excuse to have some alone time. More varied menu options than your normal fish and chips joint and a little more pricier too. Make sure you finish the chips within a few hours because it doesn't age well.

Bare bones but solid, no-frills eatery fat favours quality over quantity. Worth the trip.
