Sunbirds Oasis Lodge

The experience was one of the most superb experiences we have ever had. The staff was amazing supper helpful and friendly, with anything we needed they were there night or day.The room was very nice felt very well made with the feeling of being in the bush.The best thing about the lodge is that it is not far from the Open gate (20min drive) .

We had an amazing stay with the Work Family! What a treat! Definitely recommend for the Hoedspruit locals too.

Beautiful location in the bush and not far from Orpen Gate to Kurger National Park. The garden and the big pool area invite to spend the day relaxing and enjoying nature. It's also very central to go on day trips like the Panorama Route or to just visit Hoedspruit town. The staff is very helpful and fulfills all wishes.

I decided to take my family out on family day(26/12/22) to spend the night there and leave the following day, honestly I wasn't sure of the place but to my surprise it's a very nice place,the receptionist was helpful when it came to rooms,their overall treatment was amazing and I'm definitely going back for another family outing,me and my family we enjoyed our stay

After a week of Kruger breakfast we had an urge for a proper European breakfast. We were in a camp with no restaurant so we went out looking for a place that served food on Sunday. We accidentally came across this beautiful lodge and it really made our day! They were very happy to accommodate us even without reservation. They quickly refilled the buffet as their residents guests were already finished with it. We had a good variety of breakfast food, all served by a very caring waiter and cook. We very highly recommend the Sunbirds Lodge for a good friendly breakfast in a beautiful environment! All the best to the new management too!

Following day we resorted to own braai with own meat, which they declined and said they would cater (no problem) but at an insane cost of R250 per head! We politely turned down and had decent platters from the nearby Spur*last but not least, a few days after checking out we were alleged of theft of their well used (murky brown) towels all of us (we were a group of 8 adults).., including theft of towels from a room which we never used. Other white residents are not part of the allegations..., I can only imagine of racism at its best! If you are black I advise you to stay away from these guys.PS: I hear these are new owners.., good reviews for old owners led us book with these guys.Surely we are alleged of spending more than 10k rands on them only to steal?, going to an extend of trying opening unoccupied rooms, and stealing still. You are better than this!

The staff:The staff here are not only incredibly nice and welcoming, but are genuinely happy to be there. It doesn't take a lot to see that the staff are like one big family and as a guest, we also felt like we were part of the family. Every person we spoke to had a smile on their face and was more than happy to accommodate for their guests.The accommodation:The room we were in was perfect for what we wanted, and in fact exceeded our expectations. A beautiful, simple room with coffee, tea, an en suite bathroom, AC, hot water, WIFI, and CHARACTER.The food:We felt absolutely spoiled. The food both tasted amazing, and was presented beautifully. I will quite possibly never stop talking about that soup... The head chef is wonderful and it is very obvious that he is proud of his work. Breakfast was a buffet of hot & cold food and once again was beautifully presented.The location:We were right in the bush and so surrounded by wildlife, but also close enough to Hoedspruit town.The atmosphere:From the moment we were picked up, we felt at home. Everyone was so welcoming. There was a large group of young people on a trip together there at the time - it was so lovely to hear laughter and people having fun.Wildlife:We work with animals and so it is important for us that wherever we stay has similar values. From the start we knew they were all animal lovers and were very accommodating to me being vegan. We specialise in primate welfare and primate management and it was amazing to hear that they have humane methods of dealing with the species and have a lot of love and respect for them and were enthusiastic to learn more.If you're looking for a holiday in a beautiful, affordable, homely place then Sunbirds Oasis is for you. I will definitely be coming back.
