Terrible service from one of the estate agents. Dare I say racismI sent the agent a message on Friday (26.05.23) to view a rental in Linden. We made an appointment for Saturday (27.05.23) at 10:30am. On the morning of, she sent a message to confirm the booking to which I did. I drove from Centurion to Linden to view at said time. During the viewing, she asked if I'd like the application form, to which I replied yes because I thought I had found the right place finally after searching for weeks. She sent me the application at 11:12 via email. I asked a question regarding the application at 11:48 to which she replied at 12:24 that the unit was taken the day before. She said a tenant came and viewed that particular unit, signed the application and the lease all in one day. I was taken aback by the sudden change and figured this was because I was a black applicant.In response to that, I called her out on the unprofessionalism. How do you arrange for a viewing on a unit that had already been taken the day before?? To which she replied that the new tenant came yesterday and signed everything. I took upon myself to ask one of my white friends to message the agent with the same description as myself, that she was a female doctor moving to work at a hospital near Wits and that she asks for the same unit. My friend sent the agent a message at 12:47 as I had asked, the agent responded to her at 13:51 that the unit was indeed available!!!!! My friend continued talking to her to arrange a viewing and this agent was very responsive and set an appointment with my friend to view the unit on Monday (29.05.2023). I sent the agent a message to let he know that I was aware about the fact that she had arranged a viewing with my white friend after telling me that the unit was not available anymore. My friend then dropped the bomb that she only messaged because I told her to and that she was not interested in the viewing. The agent called my FRIEND TO APOLOGISE and not me. It was only after my friend told her that the person she's meant to apologise to was me then she called to say she was sorry. Her explanation was that she thought I was talking about a unit in Parktown, which I had never viewed nor contacted her about. She however, said I could apply still.I was intrigued and wanted to see how this entire debacle would end. I indeed submitted all my documents by Monday. She reported that I still had some missing documents which I tried to have submitted by Tuesday before noon. She has been giving me the runaround. She does not follow up, when I called her yesterday she did not pick up my calls. I called the office and they said she was out. She eventually sent me a text saying that all the documents are with the owner and he needs to decide between myself and another applicant. She says that she had been trying to call him all day but to no avail. It is now 18:56 on Thursday 01.6.23 and she apparently still can't get hold of him.I am beyond shocked that this is the treatment that black South Africans are receiving in 2023. Blatant racism! I would suggest the company advises their agents to rather not respond to black people when we ask for viewings instead of letting us waste our energy, time and money in spaces that we are not welcome in. I am beyond disappointed and disheartened this treatment.And yes, I have all the messages between myself and the agent and between her and my friend. Can be available for your perusalThis morning (02/06/2023) at 08:06, Marissa Coetzee, the agent in question, called me to say that she still had not received contact from the owner. I told her that I do not want the unit at all anymore due to the emotional stress that had come with it. To which she asked that I should edit my review to say that the issue has now been resolved. APPALLING!!! While perusing the reviews for this company, I saw one from Kimara Griesel 2 years ago who was given the same silly excuse about the wrong apartment". This is clearly a trend

Clearly your senior management and legal team DID NOT do the necessary investigation, and NO, this matter was not closed two weeks ago as you state here in your response. Your rental agent, Kerry Lewis did NOT act correctly and properly in this matter and the fact that you have responded in this way, exposes your ignorance and your attempt to dismiss and invalidate my complaint. Kerry Lewis's mandate was to procure a tenant and not to manage the lease is correct, but Kerry, in a very unprofessional manner, chose to interfere on behalf of the tenant and without getting all the facts. This was not 'good service' at all as her email that she sent undermined my parents as landlords, to the point that the tenant felt justified, because of Kerry Lewis's ignorant 'advice' and threats, to breach her contract on many levels, leaving my parents to fix the mess.Just over a week ago, I managed to contact Dave Pride, who very kindly referred me to Berry Everitt, the CEO. I wish to give a sincere thank you to Berry Everitt and to Dave Pride for responding to my emails and for helping my parents to adjust the lease agreement going forward. Now THAT is absolutely brilliant service and while we will never use Kerry Lewis's services again, we will certainly keep Chas Everitt as our first choice when it comes to buying and/or selling our house. Berry Everitt and Dave Pride, I salute you for your humanity and your compassion and your integrity. So, yes, NOW this matter is closed, thanks to Berry Everitt's help.My elderly parents are leasing their cottage and secured a new tenant in July this year. Since moving in, their electricity bill has tripled. My parents were misled into believing that this tenant uses a minimal amount of electricity and so allowed electricity to be included in the rental provided that she used a reasonable amount of electricity. The rental agent, Kerry Lewis, did not include this in the contract but agreed to it verbally. She then sent my parents a disgusting email, threatening them. The tenant since moving in, has breached the contract on so many levels, yet your agent, without getting all the facts, sends my parents a threatening email. We would like to escalate this to Kerry Lewis's PRINCIPAL or supervisor please as she has been sent an email and has not responded. Please provide an email address of Dave Pride or someone in authority who will help my parents to deal with this stressful situation which was caused by your rental agent, Kerry Lewis.

Went into Chase E, we spoke with someone, they only showed us 1 property and don't ensure that they keep in contact with you for future properties and find it very hard to stay in contact with them. Unimpressed
