Welbedacht Nature Reserve

Wonderful Oasis. Its calm, in the middle of Nature. The best thing, Zebras, Springbocks, Horses are around. Very nice place to stay.

Beautiful nature reserve, clean and spacious setting. We had the best time over the weekend, doing the hiking trails, nature photography, reseting your soul and mind - I would definitely be back!! The horses and zebra's were roaming around the house all the time.

Stayed here at the butterfly cottage with my family from 23 to 27 Dec. Great experience, what a hidden gem! Buck, horses, frogs and plenty of birds all literally at your doorstep. The cottages are well laid our and have everything own needs for a self catering stay. We'll definitely return. Perfect spot to relax and do a hike.

Wow - this is a little bit of heaven! If you like the outdoor life with long hikes, incredible animal life on your doorstep, completely remote and not more than 1,5h from Cape Town - this is the place to go! We loved our weekend there and will definitely be back again soon!

What an absolute connection with nature and place to relax and wind down from everyday busy life. Would love to return and experience this Nature Reserve again.

Lovely peaceful cottage with wonderful views and wildlife.

Very private cottages! Perfect for a night or two away. Very friendly and respectful hosts. The Pine and Eagle cottages have endless mountain views with the most beautiful sunsets to enjoy! There are a few short hiking trails or you can take a scenic stroll to the dam and have a picnic on the grass. I can recommend it wholeheartedly!

Charming guest House with pool & braai area set in pretty gardens. All set in a lovely nature reserve with springbok & zebra.

July 2022: We hired out the blue butterfly plus a couple of extra cottages for the weekend for my husbands 40th. John was super helpful. The accommodation was perfect for a group of families to come together to celebrate. The blue butterfly was well equipped for a large group - often you find that kitchens are sparsely kitted out but there was more than enough cutlery, crockery, cooking trays and serving dishes for all of us. We loved waking up to the zebra, springbok, wildebeest and horses just over the wall from us and the garden was perfect for young children to discover freely. We enjoyed several walks and even a few chilly dips in the dam and meditation pools with the snow topped mountains in the background! The only thing to be aware of if you are staying in winter is to take warm PJ's as there is no heating in the blue butterfly bedrooms, John did provide us with extra blankets when we asked. Great space and would definitely recommend!Nov 2023 UPDATE: We returned to Welbedacht to host a retreat and the service and accommodation under the new management was still great! Looking forward to seeing the results of the new additions to the accommodation.
