Old Bank Hotel - Lion Roars Hotels & Lodges
We started our trip to South Africa with a 4 night stay at the Old Bank Hotel. As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms could be noisy but that’s nothing a pair of ear plugs won’t fix. The street outside does not reflect the quality of the hotel on the inside, so don’t let this put you off. The variety for breakfast was small but still set you up for the day.The hotel itself was gorgeously furnished and very inviting. The room was very spacious and immaculately clean. Lastly, the staff at the hotel were phenomenal. So helpful with bags, ordering taxis, recommendations for the trip and just overall very attentive. Also I can’t commend the security staff at the entrance to the hotel enough, anytime we were standing outside they stood with us, walked us to our Ubers and made us feel very safe. While everyone in South Africa has been so welcoming, we have yet to meet nicer staff than those at the Old Bank.

This is a fantastic hotel. Very cool and contemporary, with a great restaurant. The staff are just the nicest and most helpful group of people you could ever wish to meet. Super clean and a great location. Very highly recommended.

Great hotel. Service attendants on par. Just minor issues to improve.Valet: Ensure you have drivers with 10 years license and driving experience. First impression of my driver nearly damaged my rental car, fortunately it had a higher bumper.Reception: When asked for a certain piece of equipment like an iron, it should not result in a guest calling three times in a space of 30 minutes from the first call.Restaurant: Great menu, atleast have a bartender regardless of occupation. Poor waiter had to be bartender, waiter and utility between 5 tables. Mistakes are inevitable.Security: Notice around the entrance doors are locked from a certain time. Security guard Vala, needs training on guest satisfaction. A suggested on notifying guests that the glass door should not be closed unattended before proceeding onwards since it is not even, Vala has the audacity to argue that Now you know." "Now you you will know to close it." For myself I don't mind hearing this yet for an elderly person to experience this

Nice, tastefully decorated hotel with a good breakfast. It’s on a pedestrian street that is ok to walk on during the day, and the staff will walk you to your Uber at night. Street noise during the day but it was quiet at night.

This was my second stay within 5 weeks for business. I did post a review after my first stay, but subsequently deleted it - everyone deserves a second chance. This little establishment tends to grow on you. The second time around was much better. Don't let the underwhelming menu descriptions fool you - the food is great. The best 3 dishes are definitely the Wagyu burger, smoked Salmon omelet, and the House Salad with additional chicken.Restaurant service is very good. The porters are always happy to help.Definitely one of the better places to be staying

The hotel has definitely improved in many aspects since they opened. Breakfast is faster and coffees are good. Service is good and one can see that the staff are really trying. Unfortunately the noise from clubs outside is very audible from the rooms so hard to sleep. If you plan to be out late anyway it won’t make a difference to you, but for a business trip it’s rather hard to sleep with EDM music pumping. outside.

I am a returning guest and had a disappointing stay. It was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The booking was made via phone, and I had to call back more than three times to complete the booking. The price said was more than the price on the website, but it was later sorted on the 4th phone call with a different person. The room looked great but had so many mosquitoes, which was worrying as it was my first time seeing them. I had so many mosquito bites in the morning.Netflix buffered the whole time, so I could not watch movies. The breakfast was buffet which we were not told. After waiting for breakfast for a while, we had to ask to be served, and that's when the lady said it was a buffet. One of the kitchen staff members was helpful and friendly. The buffet had a delicious selection. The staff was unhelpful and accommodative, and the overall atmosphere was cold. The front desk staff must be newly hired because they were not operating like the people who worked there before. Overall, I think it was my last stay at the hotel.

I always visit Old Bank when in Cape Town for business. It was an awesome find which i am very happy about! Centrally located with an up market but laid back feel. Breakfast is good and the restaurant is great for dinner also. You can take a leisurely stroll through Cape Towns most popular streets from here and there a number of great restaurants a short drive from the Hotel. I definitely recommend Old Bank for your stay in the Mother City.

The Old Bank is okay. Location is great and central but the rooms and offerings aren't great. The rooms have a very distinct smell which is unpleasant. The extractor in the bathroom doesn't work (bear in mind this hotel is 11 months old). Also if you have a room on the interior of the hotel, and it is a windy day, you will hear a steel staircase and steal bins rattling and shaking ALL NIGHT. If you're a light sleeper you won't manage. I wouldn't recommend it. Also, they don't offer room service, despite having a restaurant in the hotel. Why would I stay at a hotel with a restaurant and not be allowed to order room service? YOU'RE A HOTEL! There are plenty of other hotels in the same area which are comparable or cheaper in terms of price and are better.
