Hippo pools is a short trip from Drak Gardens main reception, although the road has been poorly maintained. It is a stereotypical Drakensberg river destination, resplendent with stunning mountain views, refreshing mountain river water (which you can drink right out the river) and a beautiful picnic spot. It has no toilet facilities, limited parking and no wheel chair access. However, it is within walking and biking distance of Drak Gardens. Well worth a visit if you are staying at the resort.
