The White House B&B

For sure after lock down, I hope everyone felt the pain of this Covid 19 so as the guest house owners and employees. They are busy with renovation, rooms are clean, water is very hot, wifi is connecting very well, the staff are very helpful and kind. Rooms are very spacious, bar fridge. Guest I think before you complain about service and other amenities check with them before you make your reservation if they meet your requirements, it is not mandatory for them to assume what you will requirements. Only good thing about this place was the view. No aircons/ dirty linen- has the damp smell/ ants all over the place/ hostess was really rude/ rooms were not ready when I went to check in really late at 5pm, went out for supper and arrived at 6pm, still not sorted and eventually swapped my room around/ no breakfast or dinner as extras/ wifi does not work/ cannot sleep with balcony open. Dianne was accommodating however and was apologetic.

Building is not up to standards for a 4 star hotel! The jet bath in the Royal suite did not work, single ply toilet paper for a 4 star is not acceptable, the Manager/owner knew it was gonna be load shedding they could have at least connected a gas bottle in the kitchen to make coffee. FOR R1900 for 2 nights I could have gotten real 4 star service. Not happy and would not recommend White house to any one.

What a wonderful place! We stayed at the White House self-catering presidential unit and the view out of our window was just breathtaking! Our children enjoyed the swimming pool so much. The service was excellent - we didn’t expect to get free soap and shampoo, normally at self-catering units it’s not provided, so we were grateful for the pleasant bonus! If you are visiting East London or are driving past and need a stay for a night - this is the place. We will definitely be back at the White Houses again!

If I could give less than 1 star, I would have. Beautiful view and setting, but a dirty, dangerous place that is poorly managed and break inns occur regularly without any steps being taken by the owners to upgrade the security. There are no airconditioners in the rooms and I spent a night there with an open window only to be robbed of my cell phone, money, computer and bag to the value of nearly a R100 000. The best was when I went to the police station they told me that the White House is famous for robberies at night, but not one person informed me and the person in the room next to me of the security issues. He has also lost all his electronic equipment and money that same nightWith the police and all the commotion, the owners never appeared and all I got was a sorry over the phone. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE AND BELONGINGS.VERY DANGEROUS TO STAY THERE

It is perfectly located to have the best of both spectacular views of the ocean and river mouth.Highly recommended in Gonubie East London

The BnB is not on the beach. The parking is at the bottom with a steep climb to the rooms. Then you have to climb 2 set of steps to get to your room. The lady that attended to us is cold and certainly not service orientated. The worse experience we have had on our road trip from Durban to the West Coast and back via the Garden route. We left immediately and did not stay the 2 nights there. The photos will show you the steep climb to the premises.

This is a destination unto itself. It sits right on the shoreline and the sound of the sea is fantastic. Would love to visit in summer to leave my door open. I will be back.
