Thank you for sharing your space with us. The chalet (Piet my vrou) was comfortable and clean with a well-equipped kitchen. Beautiful views Our dogs loved the walks.

We had a fantastic couple of days of complete rest with our 3 dogs. The chalets are fully equipped and setup for the cold winters nights, electric blankets, warm blankets and a wood fire place. We stayed in Piet my Vrou. The yard was fully fenced and the view from our balcony was amazing! Perfectly positioned to watch the sunrise.

A wonderful place to go for quiet nights and long day hikes. The self catering cottages have everything you need. We stayed during winter and really enjoyed the inside fireplace which kept our cottage cozy the whole time. There several hikes : one by the river, one through the bush near the cottages and the long one through the veld. There are uphill, downhills and flat pieces. Saamrus is pet friendly but please bring non aggressive, well mannered and well trained dogs who are obedient off leash too. The owners and staff are also very helpful and friendly.

Great place for humans and dogs alike. Very calm, relaxing and peaceful with beautiful views. The trails are well thought and and well kept although a little short. The accommodation is basic but exactly what one would need/expect from such a secluded place. Great braai area and fire pit. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.Would recommend to 4×4 owners looking to get out of the city.

We enjoyed our stay in Piet-My-Vrou cottage, it will well equipped and clean and the fenced off garden was perfect! Unfortunately the pool was very green and full of bugs and we couldn't swim during our stay which we were looking forward to, however the rest of the farm is beautiful and well kept!

No electricity from Friday afernoon till Saturday morning. No-one come to tell us or ask if we are okay. No cellphone signal, batteries flat, geyser cold and the refuse to refund me for not sleeping over again the Saturdaynight.

What a pleasant surprise. It was such a nice break. The dogs loved it and could not get enough of being outside in their own well fenced yard. I can't wait to go again. The road up the mountain was fine, but definitely with a high clearance vehicle. I would not risk going up there in the rainy season :) my driving skills are not 4x4 approved LOL.Really a great place.

A really great pet friendly retreat. Accommodation is rustic which is great, pity the TV was disconnected which would have been great for a relaxing evening but being an out of town getaway it wasn't a major issue, just worth mentioning. However, possibly seasonal but the fly problem is a huge issue! This definitely put a damper on things. They were everywhere! We used the shoo fly provided but it only helps for a short period and they try land all over a person again. We eventually went into town to buy some insect spray as the shoo fly only keeps flies away from surfaces it is sprayed on then they simply move to everywhere else in the cottage.Unfortunately there was only one supplied citronella lantern with the oil halfway and the wick burnt down too short so we had to add pebbles to the lantern to try raise the oil level and cut up a candle to try increase the length of the wick.Again, the trip into town, which is not a stone's throw was required to try get more anti-fly stuff.I even tried hollowing out candles, exposing the wick and soaking them in citronella to try treating the room and kitchen area but it was a futile exercise.I would definitely go back, but will certainly enquire on the fly situation first.

Pleasantly surprised. Well fitted clean unit against the hill. We went for a weekend and rested as if we were there for a week. The 2 dogs absolutely loved the place especially scouting the area. Definately on our list of places to go with the dogs.

We were very disappointed in our stay. When we arrived the lady just handed over the key, I had to ask myself for directions to the cottage, no further information was given. We stayed at Karee cottage, the description says cozy, which is true. But it is also very small and the fenced off area outside is also very small and big rocks. So both not suitable for a bigger and playful dog. Before it got dark we quickly went for a walk, we came back covered in ticks. It would have been nice if the lady had warned us on arrival, so we would have sprayed ourselves. You can hear the trucks and cars on the main road quite well. When we used the kitchen sink, very smelly water came up in the bath. The light at the bed wasn't working. When we switched off the lights, 2 bats were circling hectically above our bed - so we had to leave the lights on and hardly slept. In the info at the cottage it said there could be lots of flies and mosquitos - so why no insect screens so you could open some windows? To cut a lot story short, we booked 2 nights and only stayed one. When we left in the morning we explained our disappointment to a staff member... the owner would contact us... which she never did. We have stayed at many pet friendly guest farms, who charge less, have far better and cleaner accommodation and gave us lots of friendly service. So no repeat at Saamrus for us, and wouldn't recommend is to my friends either.
