Department of Home Affairs Office Germiston

Not too bad, but could be better. I needed a marriage certificate. Don’t bother arriving at 8am. Everyone else (smart ID bookings & collections, grants, etc) all get let in before you. The gentleman giving out the instructions also doesn’t speak English, so you have to ask those around you what the announcement was. Once inside, it’s a relatively quick process, but you have to keep going back to the same lady after each step (which seems a bit silly & a waste of time since you all have to queue in the same area each time). Took 2 hours to get this, but it is nice that you get it on the same day, so make sure you go when there is no load shedding otherwise they cannot help you.

So i booked for the 9th of Dec between 2-3pm got der and service was slow but i was cool, got my son pictures taken now i was suppose to do fingerprints and pay, then suddenly i just see the workers take their bags and head out not explaining to us what to do next just cause its they knock of time.When i tried to enquire i got ignored so i left with my slip with no info on what to do next. So i went der again today which is Monday the 12th and asked them i got my slip friday so where do i go, i was simply told to sit and join the que to start all over and asked with attitude why i didn't come early in the morning as if they the only people working. I then explained that its ridiculous for me to start all over whereby nothing was explained to the 20 of us who where der on friday we where left hanging.. the response was 'okay bye' by some young lady who takes pictures at the photo booth, i dont understand why the government still hires people who cant give good customer service and yet ders no1 to forward your complaints at der. Poor service, bad attitude by the young ladies and slow service cause all they do is chit chat. It's disgusting to see the attitude we have to face in such places and yet the managers or supervisor dont deal with such cases we will still come to find them doing the same thing.

It was really helpful of the schools to arrange a day for us to go register our matric kids.

Went to go collect my passport and as expected the line was long but I must say that Karin really does push for people to be serviced, the poor lady knocks off at 15:30 and there were still about 20 people still waiting to collect their ID and passport and she still went out of her way to ensure everyone gets their respective documents even though it was passed her knock off time she still stayed. I really appreciate her kindness and her willingness to go the extra mile for her job,she really deserves a bonus or something.

I'm giving a 4 star due to personal reasons. I was struggling to get my green ID book issued since Nov 2018. Tried different home affairs but no Luck and I wasn't getting the help I needed nor an explanation to why my ID application keeps failing to get issued. So I then tried applying at Germiston Home Affairs early 2022. The gentleman who assisted me with the whole process was very helpful... though I was losing hope again that it won't get issued because I had been running up and down the whole year to check on the progress they'd tell me me your documents haven't been touched or they busy with this and that...but the wait was worth it. my green ID book got issued early this year 2023. For that I am thankful

Booked for my ID and passport and took 55 to complete everything, keep it up Germiston branch, i encouraged my colleagues to use the branch for their passports hope they will not be dissapointed

The worst service ever ... Got the 7 and left at two luckily there was no issues of loadshedding but I really really don't understand we were not so many the queue was short but we left without assistance after 13:45 , and they basic ... Worst part of it I actually did my application online thought it would be simple but frankly it was the worst experience ever , there was also a school girl in uniform she left with no assistance as welI, the worst service ever .. the securities actually work and check on people as if they are the ones hired there honestly I went the the Germiston because of the good reviews but mine was the worst I have ever experienced

Was at Germiston home affairs this morning....I just have to say...Thank you to everyone from security to the consultants....my experience was great, service (check), efficiency(check), competency(check)...and the friendliness(check), My view and opinion of the home affairs department kind of changed today. Keep it up GERMISTON HOME AFFAIRS BRANCH.
