Orange River Rafters

Henkries Adventure: 9-14 May 2022Thank you Matt, Devon, Mufasa and Marius for an awesome adventure!Oewerbos base camp: Nice campsites with lots of shade, clean ablutions and good breakfasts served on the deck.The Orange: Due to earlier rains in the catchment area it was quite fast flowing which made for ‘easy’ rowing and ‘short’ days on the river. Got to chill for most of the afternoon at the chosen campsite for the night. The spot for the second night was truly memorable! Beautiful sunsets and sunrises, fish eagles, goliath and grey herons, darters, cormorants, baboons, vervet monkeys and so much more!The food: Easy eating, feel good food, and thanks for accommodating the 2 vegetarians!Matt, Devon and Mufasa - the guides: These guys know their stuff! Cool, relaxed, knowledgeable and all round good guys. Thank you for making our 24th wedding anniversary unforgettable! We had an amazing experience with these guys. We took the self catering option (which I highly recommend! ) and we had 2 very capable guides. We were a group of 15, which included a 3, 8 and 10 year old. And the guides were very patient and helped everyone to understand how the rapids worked, they made delicious breakfast, lunch and dinners each day, and they even gave us some information about the birds etc along the river. This is an amazing experience and I would definitely go again! Sleeping under the stars, and being in nature like that - it is like food for the soul

Dankie Marius and team. We did the 2021 New Years trip over 4 days and we truly had a fantastic time. We were very well looked after and our whole group really enjoyed this memorable holiday. My family (me and wife and four young ladies) spent an epic 4 days on the Orange River with Orange River Rafters. Our River guides were Matt in the lead , supported by Devon. Everything was great and I would do it again with this team. If you are deciding on a squad to help you navigate the trip with a family here are the most important differentiators of this team1. Attention to detail - everything we needed was well thought out and every small detail was thought through2. Knowledgeable , mature guides. Inevitably your guides are adventurous people, a bit of a rebel spirit and a sense of irreverence . Matt and Devon had a that but under Matts leadership also demonstrated level headedness , made mature decisions and did a great job creating a team atmosphere. Matt in particular has a unique ability to play the leadership role and still treat you as a client. We had some interaction with other guides whilst on the river and I can say that we definitely had the pick of the bunch.3. Food - do not underestimate how important this is. At the end of a day of packing up rowing and then unpacking to camp again , you want good food. And this came in with a solid 5 stars. Top top,top4. Atmosphere- the way Marius spent time with us both before and after the trip at a kick off braai and last night braai, the knowledge Matt had of the history of the Orange River, the sites we camped at, the might River and the stars unfettered by cluttered modernity all added up to a bucket list well ticked. Thank you ORR team for truly memorable experience.

Marius and the guides (Matt, Jan-Harm and Devon) were fantastic through the whole planning process and on the river. Attention to detail and safety were a primary concern to them Ntmd it meant that all the guests had a very enjoyable trip. We would definitely use them again!

Had the most amazing time. You guys are THE best ever!!!! Extremely well organised. Catering was outstanding!! Even for us vegetarians and vegans. Our guides Jan and Basi were brilliant. An unforgettable experience that will always be remembered with a giant smile. Thank you so so much Mariius. You are a super star!!

One of the best experiences I have ever the pleasure to witness. It was an amazing adventure with my brother. It was just me, my brother and the guide Matt in the group. Orange River Rafters went full out even with just 2 people in the group. Matt was an amazing guide with a huge amount of knowledge and stories to tell. His cooking is out of the best books. The food was amazing, do not think you will get something run down to eat. They make full course meals ons the side of the river, you do not feel far from home with the cooking.Orange River Rafters planning and execution is precise and thought through without any hiccups.My personal opinion, I will never go with another company on the river. Orange River Rafters has made a client and a friend for life. Marius is one of the best event organizers I have ever met, everything was flawless. If I could have given more stars I would. My whole family is booking for next year.

Words can't describe how much I enjoyed this trip, even at a ripe 65years. Every single moment was just pure joy. It was superbly organized and the food was beyond amazing. Apart from being a brilliant cook who kept on surprising us, Matt, our guide, is a walking encyclopedia and shared his unbelievable knowledge of just about everything with us. I can highly recommend this adventure to anybody.
