This place has THE BEST hake in Cape Town. I'm from the UK and this is closest to fish and chips we get back home that I've found. The fish is big and juicy and flakey and perfect every time. Its a bonus that they offer salt and vinegar as well as pickled onions! Yum. Only downside is parking is difficult.

I don't know where Mr Ableman is from but We have been buying our Fish from Fish Hoek Fisheries for more than 25 years. Ido know that they get FRESH fish brought in and fried daily. They do not reheat the fish.They have been in the valley for many years and would never disrespect their clients in that way.Mr Ableman maybe you shouldExcercise your right to go elsewhere and be kinder to people trying to earn a living.

Ordered a hake and chip parcel. Very nice but the portions are quite small for the selling price. The calamari was on the salty side but all in all the foods were fresh.

Fish Hoek Fisheries
We visited Fish Hoek fisheries on recommendation by someone who lives in Fish Hoek. Apparently they are winning the best Fisheries award every year. My gosh! Was I glad we went there! Best batter I have ever tasted and we have done a lot of outings to other fish & chip places. The fish was top quality, extremely well cooked and super fresh! We will be back when we are in South Africa again. I highly recommend this place!

My memory of Fish Hoek Fisheries as the best place in the deep south to buy fish and chips goes back to the 1960s. They also sell the best fish cakes and awesome calamari.Fresh fish is also on sale and they will fillet and skin it if you ask.

Their fish is absurdly overpriced for the quantity they offer. They claim to have the best tasting fish in Cape Town hence the exhobitant price for such ordinary tasting snoek fish AND chips. Both the employees and manager don't respectfully welcome complaints. They clearly haven't tasted Bluewave Fisheries parcels for reference, to name but a few. If you ever decide to buy the parcels, ask them to show you the quantity before. That fish & chips parcel is NOT WORTH THE PRICE, sorry to burst your bubble. Very disappointed.

Fish Hoek Fisheries
I went to Fish Hoek fisheries for the first time. We decided on hake, calamari and chips. What I will say is that it was great! Fish was fresh, chips were perfectly 'slap' (unhealthy). They were a bit busy, but we did not wait long at all. I wish they had seating space, but we parked on the side of the road, along the beach and enjoyed the meal. A definite return from my side.

The fish here is all pre-cooked and sitting under a heat lamp. I watched as the cook would occasionally grab a piece from under the heat lamp and stick it back in the fryer for a minute to re-crisp it. When you order, employees grab the closest piece of fish without regard for when it was cooked, which means some pieces probably sit for hours, and may have been re-fried several times.In short, this is a place for cheap fish. It is not a place for fresh, crisp fish.
