Very busy emergency unit gr8 staff

Ok considering state budget. Very busy trauma unit. Overcrowded wards.

5 star treatment friendly doctors and the nurses are awesome

Needs the toilets and some areas renovated. painting would be a good idea. Staff were very helpful and pleasant tho.

Great service 4 a gov hosp. Staff are ok to deal with. Parking is a pain. There is parking opposite the hosp with a guard however a family members car got stolen here. Heard of many cars getting stolen here.

It's never a good thing if you end up in hospital but this week past my boarder did. She was rushed into emergency ward where I was surprised by the quick response and handling of her. There was a long wait in the waiting room though, but as I see it many were not life threatening cases.The staff were friendly, the wards were clean, and as far as I know the doctors were available. The lady was in ICU and the staff were very attentive. She got good care for a life threatening situation.The government hospitals are under resourced and the staff are probably not the best paid. But I take my hat off for Victoria hospital. I think they doing the best with what they got.

I was there three weeks ago with my son,things are very slow but i dont blame them because of few doctors.!

Just does not seem to have the same level of commitment that one finds at Grootte Schuur - from the lack of cleanliness in waiting-rooms to the unpolished floors - almost like they're scared that, if they polish them just once, they will be compelled to do it forever & they are just not THAT committed.General word is that one goes to Victoria Hospital to die - not to have one's health restored One takes patients there for all sorts of serious issues, but the standard treatment - for strokes, heart attacks, violent convulsions, etc - appears to be : keep the patient overnight & discharge him in the morning.Nursing staff appear to make errors & to write up records sheets with unmeasured results.The place is like an old, tired little hospital that just limps along on a very insufficient budget with no rules about eating in waiting area, where the waiting-time to see a doctor in Trauma" unit is about 7 - 8 hours !People who are completely unwell & live in unspeakable environments are released as soon as a family member says that they will take them home. One almost feels that the whole place sighs with relief at the (slightly) reduced burden of each such case that is inevitably putting pressure on their overburdened system.Their is no social worker over weekends & cases which obviously require social intervention are not referred to that overburdened department.My own old GP once put it this : "If there is one thing that I fear
