The Umhlanga Dentist

I was on holiday when out of the blue was hit with excruciating toothache one evening. The next morning I tried to find a dentist but 5 different tries with no success as they were all off and not working I then found the Umhlanga dentist who only had an appointment in the afternoon for me . But by 10am , I couldn’t deal with the pain and went in to ask them if the dentist could just take a quick look between patients. Well it wasnt something quick as I had to have two root canal treatments- lol. Dr Kevin Mc Guire worked on me between his booked patients for which I’m truly grateful for. The procedures were the least painful I’ve ever experienced at a dentist and everyone was so professional and friendly from the time I arrived until I left. I highly recommend them.

The practice as a whole goes above and beyond! They all truly care about the patients and all go out of their way to aid them - even over the Christmas period! Dr Dorien is an amazing dentist and imminently approachable! My whole family goes to this practice!

I went for a filling and was advised I needed a root canal procedure. I had the root canal done and the tooth ache was absolutely dibilating I honestly believed that the toothache would be gone. when I returned for the filling to be done I had not idea that I needed antibiotics in order to clear the infection. It was excruciating so Dr Maguire kept injecting me several times to the extent that I couldn't see out of my eye as the entire right side of my face was numb. My tongue is now has no feeling and I can no longer taste anything no food or anything that I put in my mouth. I went back to my Dentist in Durban North Broadway Dental that I had been going to for 3 years. My Partner told me to go to Maguire I regret it. Dr Naidoo put me on a course of antibiotics to clear the infection. Unfortunately my quality of life has been taken away from me it. This cost nearly R 9000 it's insane I nearly fainted when I saw Maguire's Bill. I often bite my tongue so I have deal with that too I've become depressed and I hardly eat anymore as I cannot taste. My Partner told me not to bother reporting him to the Medical and Dental Council because they protect their own.

Excellent dentistry skills with a caring manner delivered by Drs Kevin and Dorien and the whole of their team. I came here having avoided the dentist for around 15 years after bad experiences and with a lot of fears, and with consequently serious gum and tooth health problems. Not only did they put in serious work to fix these problems over a number of sessions, leaving me healthy and with a great smile, they did so with gentleness and understanding.I would recommend this practice to South Africans, but for those who, like me, are considering coming here from overseas, I can especially strongly suggest a trip to Umhlanga. South African dentistry has a reputation for excellent skills at a price which is highly competitive internationally, and Dr Kevin is one of the best. Umhlanga is a beautiful beachside community with one of the best climates in South Africa and many great bars and restaurants, and a great mix of cultures and races. It is safe to walk around here 24 hours with excellent policing and private security and friendly people. This is a beautiful and peaceful place to get what can be quite stressful treatment done, and all the attractions of Central Durban are a short taxi ride away costing only about 10 £/$/€.

Amazing service! I got a tootache while on holiday and the reptionist as well as the doctor went out of their way to accommodate me. Doctor was very professional and explained everything. He did an excellent job.

Great service. Dr Kevin Maguire and his team are reliable, friendly and efficient. Been using them as my dentist for years - happy days. Very convenient location too. Nobody loves visiting the the dentist - but if you're going to keep yourself healthy, then pick a good spot! They get my vote. Five Stars
