Had a wonderful time on Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Victoria Falls. Great food and friendly staff.

Most amazing experience of my life. Classy, spectacular, superb and a must do. The service is out of the books, the food absolutely amazing.

The staff was exceptional! From Christine, our hostess, to Mara, Stevens, Zander and all the other kind and efficient members of the staff.The train was in overall good shape, but there were some things we can’t forgive when you consider how much you pay for the trip, 3 nights on a Royal Suite. First, the cold water tap broke (on our other Royal Suite neighbours, it was the toilet flush…) and, even though we called someone right away, it remained broken for a while and it led to all the water in our coach being used!!! What??????Also, the train had many delays, which we understand, but we had to stop for hours at Musina and the train manager couldn’t give us a good explanation why. They put the blame on the SAR (South Africa Railways), but, honestly, when you pay Rovos Rail thousands of euros or dollars for this trip, you expect top-notch service and they should somehow get their tracks and engines working as expected. Due to this problem, we were unable to enjoy the rest of our trip from Musina to Pretoria (we came from Victoria Falls and we were supposed to go to Pretoria), and we had to wait hours on the train to get a bus that was very uncomfortable. The trip lasted around 7 hours (!!!), and no formal apology or compensation was given. We expected to arrive at our destination comfortably and not on a tourist coach and a horrible back and neck pain.Don’t recommend Rovos Rail at all! It’s a pity because the staff was great.

Rovos Rail is quite exceptional. We have travelled on this beautiful train twice - once Pretoria-CapeTown and once Pretoria-Victoria Falls.Both times have been a unique experience. Three days on the train with fantastic food, wines and drinks. The suites are beautifully styled, and it was a pleasure to just sit and watch the scenery. Or we could go to the observation car, and watch the landscape from there.Best of all were the staff - so professional and friendly. Thanks to you all for a great trip!

We were extremely excited with our Rovos Rail ride, part of our 3 weeks-long trip. We booked well in advance (months!) a Royal Suite, the most expensive option for the most comfort possible, and our route was from Victoria Falls to Pretoria (19-22/02).However, such a disappointment!The star goes to the crew/staff. Thank you, Christine, our hostess, and Zander, Stevens, Mara and all the other ladies whose names I can't remember for their professionalism, kindness and efficiency. Great team!But we can't recommend this company or ride for some reasons:- we had a problem with our cold water tap (it didn't stop running, even though we didn't do anything wrong), we called someone right away and the problem wasn't correctly solved (the other Royal Suite neighbouring clients had the same issue but with their toilet flush). As a result, all the water in our coach was used and we had to wait for a refill (?). How can this happen on the most luxurious train" in Africa and one of the most high-end trains in the world?- we had several delays. The train manager (terrible

We did the trip from Pretoria to Victoria Falls, and WOW! What an incredible experience, fantastic food, fantastic wine and fantastic service. The team who worked on the train couldn’t have done more to make us feel more welcome. I don’t think that they have the ability to use the work “no”. No matter what we asked to make ourselves more comfortable, they made happen.The route itself was really interesting. At one point we were having lunch and went past Hippo’s sunning themselves in the sun just outside the train. I’ve never watched animals from a train before. A truly unique experience.The trip also went past old industrial yards which gave some insight into the area, which I found interesting.Getting to Victoria Falls was also incredible.This is one of the top experiences I have had and I believe is a must if you are visiting or live in Southern Africa.

A perchance meeting with this beautiful train in Matjiesfontein reignited my interest in booking a bucket list trip on her. We’re booking on the Pretoria to Victoria Falls 4 night journey and so looking forward to it.
