DogWise Behaviour and Training

This was a waste of time and money, I have had no after care or support, the training method was poor and unsuccessful from the very start, poorly executed and failed teach anything other then how to wait! Les changed the diet of my puppy and told me to take all his toys away from him he told me to pull him until he gets up even if he doesn't want to go, to the point where my puppy eyes would go red! And told me to that I was the issue not my puppy and that if I keep doing the things he showed me for hr lesson x3 that my puppy would be trained!

The trainer Les, is very old school in the way he trains and handles dogs. My puppy didn't get anything out of it and I didn't like the way he would speak to me, he was condensending. Don't waste your money and go somewhere else. Also he is very grumpy and has particular views about having a pet, doesn't like dog parks, harnesses and collars sold at shops because he tries to sell collar/leads made by someone he knows and also gets a cut from it, (also the handmade the collar/lead will cost more than the classes, won't last for long either). Its very hard to finds a good trainer when this company is advertised at different vets around Sydney western suburbs, but speak to anyone who has gone here and everyone can agree.

We were given advice from a specialist vet on not using a collar with our dog but to use a harness that would not put pressure on the neck and spine and one of your trainers gave unsolicited “professional” advice.Maybe do your homework. Some collars can put strain on the neck and spine of a dog.

I came across dogwise training from a webpage listing the top ten trainers in Sydney, I wish I had read the reviews...Les promotes training methods based on wolves and dominance and doesn’t seem to be able to tailor training based on specific requirements. I have a very well behaved dog that I wanted only to improve recall under distraction with and he didn’t seem to listen to what I had to say or understand what I was aiming to achieve from the training. He approached my situation with a very basic and broad approach that almost seemed cruel. It was recommended that I withdraw patting, toys and exercise for week, have my dog spend its time outside when we were home, tease her with the smell of her food while we ate, have at least an hour a day tethered to not give her the option to roam the house and use a “soft” choker collar (that I felt was way too tight), all to prove I was in charge. In total, I paid $300 for 1.5 hours where he mostly talked about outdated and debunked theory and severe cases he had seen in the past that did not reflect my situation in the least. I feel he had to keep exaggerating how good his training was and how I was the problem, to justify his time. I chose to cancel my follow up session with Les as I didn’t get anything out of the first session and didn’t feel comfortable with his training methods. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a dog trainer, look somewhere else.

I have been looking for training my German Sheppard. I tried 3 companies with no result. We would apply their instructions . some were so rough with the dog he was frighten.So I looked and found this company. I paid the deposit i wish i would of read the reviews i would not have lost my 100.00 deposit. so i cancelled the training.I have lost so much money trying to find someone to help . i learnt my lesson read as many reviews as u can .
