Bulshoek Dam Holiday Resort

We camped for one night on our road trip. The bathroom is clean and adequate. It is a bit far, but not an issue. The owner/manager is caring and friendly. Great for fishing and a bit of the main routes. We loved it.

Stayed in one of the stone cottages in March 2023. Was perfect for our group of 8, rustic and comfortable. The outdoor braai area is fantastic, and we even managed to get a game of cricket on the well-maintained front lawn. The dam was great for a small spot of fishing, and we were able to SUP.The Resort is well located outside of Clanwilliam to provide a sense of 'off-the-beaten track', but close enough that we could head back into town for supplies and a meal.Willem is a friendly and warm host, who made sure we were welcome, while also giving us our space. And his lovely dog is always up for a game of throw!Bonus for some in our group were the alpacas in the garden next door to the cottages!Highly recommend Bulshoek Dam Holiday Resort.

After a reading some negative reviews on this resort, I had avoided a visit fora couple of years. But being on what I consider to be on one of the best fishing spots on the dam (right at the inlet), the fisherman in me got the better and I popped in for an 'overnighter'. To cut a long story short, I was pleasantly surprised. The resort is the opposite of what I've read. There were issues previously when the resort was run by the owner, but that is no longer the case. I'm already planning my next trip and looking forward to spending a weekend or 2 there.

I was on a road trip from the Tankwa Karoo to the Cederberg Wilderness and the West coast. I had a wonderful one night camping stay at Bulshoek Dam. Pitched my tent at the edge of the river and enjoyed a wonderfully peaceful evening, swimming in the river and cooking on my campfire. The stars were fabulous reflected in the water and the toilets and showers very clean and homely. The owner Wilhelm is lovely, he gave me a bag of pecans fresh from the tree and his dog Ranger is hilarious chasing wagtails on the edge of the dam. Highly recommended.

Slightly uneven grassed camp sites with easy access to water taps and electric plugs for each camp site. Ablutions are a little spartan but adequate. Always hot water in the showers. The river is not even a stones throw away and attractive for fishing and boating. Plenty of birdlife and peace and tranquility abounds. This is not a luxury campsite but one of the camps we have enjoyed the most of 15 months of travelling. Willem and Ranger (his border collie) are most helpful making your stay enjoyable. We would have stayed longer than the two months spent there but had already booked for the Cape. Just be prepared always with mosquito repellants.

Found the place by chance and it's a gem!No booking required. Great spot for fishing and amazing camp sites.Ablutions are cleaned daily and people there are very helpful. Only planned to stay for one night, extended the stay to 4 nights. Very safe and very comfortable. Definitely going back!

Great camping spot just outside Clanwilliam. Right on the river. Very hospitable and accommodating. Thanks for a great stay.

Really an amazing and beautiful site ,Oom Willem is an amazing host who will go out of his way to help and make the stay really great and welcoming I really recommend Bulshoek Dam Resort
