The one thing that takes your breath away when you arrive at Galene is the view! The house has a lovely outdoor area and a splash pool that looks straight onto the sea.We visited in March 2014 as a family and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The house itself was in need of some repair at the time but it had the potential to be a magnificent holiday home. There are plenty bedrooms (6) and bathrooms (4) which make it ideal for a family / group stay. The beach is a 2 minute walk away through a small gate on the property and lazy lunches can be enjoyed outside while looking at the ocean.

A home away from home, right on the beach with awesome views. The house is perfect for groups, noise level not an issue. Security is on point. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back. Thank you so much for having us.

I am shocked and disappointed in this false review. How can people blatantly lie and slander where there is no truth. The house was NOT locked and this was admitted by the guests. The truth is that there was an attempted burglary but, fortunately, the ladies were still awake and their screams drove the intruders off. Everything possible was done to assist them. We have multiple bookings throughout the year and we have installed CCTV camera's and an alarm system with ADT Security . The guests chose NOT to arm the system. We live in South Africa and we should all be aware of our security. (The star rating has nothing to do with this response to the review)

Seriously...we all know its new years, its now 00:24 and i think you had your fun. But can you stop NOW. My pets is going crazy because your are letting your guests shoot fireworks which is prohibited by law.

it is with deep regret that I have to say my experience at Galene beach house was a nightmare! My kids, my family and I have been severely traumatised. Owner Patrick, didn't come to our aid when we were burgled on our first night. he pretended not to hear or see anything. the burglar, armed with an axe, had keys to the house he just walked rift in and helped himself to whatever he could before my 56 year old mum in law scared him off with her screams. we alerted Patrick who then called" the security service. he didn't even come to the house to check if we were ok. my hubby then called saps and the security service and we were told that they weren't even aware of our situation. Patrick lied to us. his reason was this" this hasn't happened in a long time". and what about the concealed doors leading to his house? .... and what's up with patricks friends that just walked into the chalet and opened the fridge and cupboards. ? the excuse for the friend were that they were apparently pastors.... the guy with the was cleaning patricks gardens when we first got there..... we spent about 8 hours at Galene beach house. what was supposed to be a wonderful weekend away turned into a nightmare which we are still struggling to get over."

We had a very pleasant stay at the house for 9 days. The house is clean and neat the beds are comfortable and the view is amazing you can walk down to the beach. The house is not close to the main swimming beach so you will need to take a drive. The road leading to the house is a sand path so drive carefully if you have a sedan. There is a cleaner that comes daily that really helps so much. The security is decent at the house we used the alarm and kept the doors locked so no issues there. The one refrigerator is badly worn and rusted and barely keeps anything cold but there was a backup. There is also a chest freezer. The one thing that I would have liked is to have a washing machine available and or a tumble dryer to get the wet towels dry on rainy days. Very affordable place for one amazing vacation thanks.

Holiday Disaster......Entering the gate a building project was in motion with a lot of builders moving up and down using taps and mixing cement etc. Our health and safety put at risk at level 2 lockdown , we thought we would go on holiday in isolation just with a great view on the beach. The first sight we saw was the rubble as we entered the gate of the Galene beach house property. A nightmare scene not expected. The building project was not communicated upfront to us for us to make an informed decision to go elsewhere. We felt we got the short end of the stick paying R10000 paid for 4 daysDue to the back packers look and feel the place , bedrooms and bathrooms ( bathrooms wasnt cleaned , pics have been taken , toilets was disgusting) we only ended up sleeping using only 3 rooms because other parts of the house looked so dodgy. A number of rooms e.g tv room and some bathrooms had doors that lead to the owners section of the house. The owner stayed on the property in a section next door. Another important fact not mention for us to make an informed decision . The owner's ciggarette smoke filtered through the gaps in the tv room below the door leading to his premises. We had to block off smoke fumes with pillows (we could also hear Patrick's coughing as he smoked away) because our 5 and 6 year olds were watching tv there. The place isn't taken care of well as online pics portrays it to be. All rooms had dusty old curtains , which hasn't been cleaned for awhile. The outdoor view was the only area we could fully enjoy. the standard of the place was below expectationsThis is our honest review.
