Protea by Marriott Hotel Karridene Beach

Very comfortable self catering accomodation. Central Aircon system. Stayed on the ground floor, conveniently situated close to the beach . Rooms were ideal size for 6 ppl . Lounge and dining area abit cramped but we made use of outdoor table . Great facilities for kids . Will definitely return

Staff went out of they way to accommodate my request, outstanding customer service from the chef will definitely recommend menu for lunch and dinner, thanks again to the waiter and chef

Attended my Aunties 70th Birthday today, my family and other guests were absolutely disappointed with the quality of the food and service of the staff....Horrible food and the worst I've eaten from any hotelChicken flavourlessLamb curry looked and tasted like oxtail....seafood paella was tasteless...Food and juices ran out and the wait for forever. Guests had have lemon water... Desserts were sub standard to say the least...Money and travel wasted!

DON'T COME HERE IT HAS GONE TO THE DOGS. There are no more Easter Activities for The Kids over Easter the Games Room is Broken and Run Down. The service delivery is appalling especially from the Manager Bridget. There was a water issue in Illovo area but Protea has Jojo Tanks and pumps they only supplied 1st and 2nd floor with running water to shower our kids could not shower after swimming in the pool with Chlorine and my daughter suffers with eczema. Bridget the Manager promised to discuss the matter with us but never did arrive until we went to here office. I feel so embarrassed for introducing my 2 cousins who brought their families here as I told them it's a lovely place. The service here is same like home affairs WE ARE CURRENTLY OFFLINE I REPEAT DON'T COME HERE I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AND I HAVE SPENT MANY EATERS HERE AT KARRIDENE IT'S RUN DOWN. Please stop removing My Review I came here and spent my money I have the right to Review It. I will keep posting everytime you'll remove it..

Was trying to arrange a Christmas Lunch at their restaurant (great menu) and Wynand, the Ops manager, assisted as they had telecommunication issues at the premises. We did not utilize them, but not due to the menu etc, it just didn't pan out. What I would like to draw attention to was how he went out of his way to accomodate us at a late date, his excellent communications and his welcoming attitude. We will utilize them in the near future!

Over the phone when I tried go book the spa they said the can accommodate us. We drove far and when we got there, they couldn’t help us due to them not being able to change the towels. Extremely upset.The lady over the phone was a lot friendlier than the lady in reception

Lovely resort. One of the neatest camp sites in KZN. Some of the amenities are in need of repairs. When we went the pool table was not working and neither was the air hockey machine. Bring back the arcade games. They have a generator so your holiday won’t be impacted by load shedding

We were staying in the area. On our 1st visit we were looking for somewhere to have dinner and wondered why the restaurant was completely empty until we saw the prices.... A few days later we met some friends who were passing by for a quick drink. The guys wanted alcohol and the ladies milkshakes. The bar was meant to open at 10am but didn't do a waiter had to assist us. He took a really long time but was friendly and checked back with us a few times before disappearing. Don't this we will visit again even though the place is clean and the setting lovely.

Food was the worst I have ever eaten in any Hotel. Chicken was rotten, had an awful smell. Mutton curry was unappetizing, also had a funny taste to it.Not one dessert was fresh, waffles, carrot cake, chocolate cake was horribly stale and even had a rotten after taste. Malva pudding was tasteless, custard was lumpy and desperately lacked sugar.The worst was the fruit flies in the dessert cabinet that settled on the fruit salad which were zooming in and out of the other desserts and even settling and getting stuck to them. What kind of Management do you have in this place? How can you serve loyal customers food like this? And to top it all, they don't have a Manager present, you have to wait for the next day to speak to him. I'm a customer for close to twenty years now and I can tell you that Karridene has now lost our support and I will not encourage anyone else to visit this place if this is the way you treat your customers. What and inconvenience, now i have to drive out to have meals with my family for the rest of our stay....Very disappointed!!!
