Virgin Active Gym Constantia

Location and views are great and a very positive environment to train in. The gym equipment has not been looked after very well especially in the weights section. The machines are rusted and require maintenance. The treadmills and spin bikes seem to be well maintained and do work. But it seems they are not focusing much on anything else. If you like doing classes and running on the treadmill then that's great. In my opinion the gym is not well equipped with a variety of equipment and it is at that point where without sufficient maintenance in another few years it wont be so great to train there inspite of the awesome location.

So I wish I could experience this club but their sales department made it simply impossible so far. It’s 6 month now I’m trying to get my membership but looks like this company’s policy is ‘Let’s make it complicated and as less transparent as possible’. I’ve done 4 applications online to get information and T&Cs. One time I popped in there and the person there didn’t allow me to take with me his hand-written (!) pricing for membership! Two time I’ve received calls and WhatsApp messages but people were unable to clear out how to make things done. They try to make you pay for a year membership over the phone (!) without showing you a contract. Last person I was in touch with after 5 minutes chat and me insisting in getting some official information and offer sent me an email with one line - a link with T&Cs, which or doesn’t work, or asks to verify the device to see T&Cs and even you insert your number it doesn’t work. And when I message this person asking to fix the link or find another way to get to T&C…she stopped replying. Are you serious guys? The strangest service I’ve ever experienced in my life

Love the vibe and all. Recommend. 1 Year later still searching for a gym buddy haha. Love all the classes. Friendly staff.

Good facilities in general including a squash court, but the floor space is quite limited. They also have no load-shedding plan in place even after all these years. No solar, no battery backup. For what is one of the more expensive gyms, that is disappointing.

Good as far as gyms go. It’s often quite busy and so you may end up waiting for machines. I think there are some maintenance issues because there are often machines that are out of order, but there are multiples of most machines so it shouldn’t affect your workout too much. Friendly staff.

Been a member of Virgin Active for many years. Constantia Club is excellent. Clean, great equipment, great shower pressure and a cold shower in the private men’s area is a great way to finish my workout. My favorite club right now

The same good quality you can expect at all VA branches back home (UK), though it is often very, very busy, so arrive with a flexible workout plan or be prepare to do a lot of waiting.

Considering this being one of the most expensive gyms in Africa, I would have expected them to be fully kitted with solar panels and backup batteries. I visited this gym the other morning, although being open, they did not open allow members in due to loadshedding and it being to dark inside. Some of the machines are also dated and require constant repair or are out of order.

The missing hairstraightners make sense, last week my Hurley jacket , not handed in, today I forgot my VS sport bra, called with 1hr of leaving....no sorry. Sticky fingers, considering location this is a poorly maintained club compared to Century city.

From a non-gym person I am enjoying gym, but not sure why Virgin has not gotten alternative power sorted to be able to operate during load shedding. Please can someone advise. Classes in the dark are not much fun and in winter it will be worse.
