Virgin Active Gym Athlone

I walked in the Virgin Active Athlone and was very happy with there staff and facilities and now part of the experience

It's a gym. Not much to say. Parking is a bit tight other than that it's okay. Has a nice large pool.

Seems like we get left with the old equipment. Maintenance on existing equipment is slow to none! Not to mention your car can be hijacked or stolen closeby. They provide secure parking in a neigbbouring block but the security to the gym from there is wanting. More Athlone users need to complain to get the standards up!

So I enrolled my 16 daughter in December with Angelo, who promised us two free MONTHS. Debit orders still went off after contacting the office via email and my husband going in more than once. After struggling to get a refund and numerous calls I cancelled the two debit orders but continued to pay the months owed as agreed since they were not keeping their side of the agreement. The one female staff member humiliated by daughter more thn once in front of her friends and school mates speaking down to her in a loud aggressive tone with absolutely no people skills. She didn't know how to navigate their computer system another staff member came to show her that their is a note next to my daughters name. Today yet again we received a threatening letter stating that they will cancel her contract since we are behind. She hasn't gone to gym for two weeks now because since she fears that this lady will insult and humiliate her again( black lady not sure of her name will add later) This all because of admin staff at gead office and staff at the gym not doing their job properly. My younger daughter and two friends were suppose to start next year but I feel afraid to send my kids here.

I was promised a free month by Lloyd upon signing up(note: I did not ask for this, I was offered). This did not happen and they debited my account after a few days. Queried this with Loyd, who had done nothing, forcing me to reverse this amount. My membership is now in arrears and I'm getting embarrassing phone calls asking me when I'm gonna pay!!! And still, no feedback at all!

This is the only gym It feels like home , it's basic nothing fancy an it has everything too do the job I love this gym

As a new member of Virgin Active Athlone and an Uber driver who picks up clients and takes them home after their training, I find the gym to be safe and enjoyable. The gym has a pool and is very spacious, and there is always hot water available for showers after training. As you walk up the stairs into the gym, the calendar for classes is clearly visible. However, today I noticed pamphlets that appeared to be promoting a campaign on Virgin Active reward points, but I didn't see anyone attending to them. I even stood there to read the pamphlet, but no one seemed interested in attending to them. Despite that, everything else is good at the gym. It is very spacious and can accommodate a lot of people.

Athlone VA is the best gym to go to. Staff friendly. Pool maintained well. People ALWAYS friendly. If I didn't have my trainer at century city I would move over for sure
