Wonderful dives! Professional, experienced and friendly people with a beautiful passion for what they do. Best diving for shark lovers!! We can’t wait to be back!! We dived 5 days and saw 8 different species of sharks.

Poor experience. Not recommended at all. Find a better diving center than this poorly managed business.

You need to do a few dives to experiance the true beuty of this site , i have done about 20 .can have a fast drift with nothing to see .but can have wall to wall hammers or ton of raggies .batted dive is interesting

Very professional and experienced dive center at Margate. They all are so helpful and friendly. Protea bank is not a easy dive site but I feel so comfortable to go with the African dive adventures team! I have been back to dive with them more than 4 times, and I believe I will be back again soon! All of my best dive in my life happened in Protea banks with them!

Best diving aroundThe Protea banks is a reef about 7 km off the shore of South Africa near Margate. the reef lies at a depth of between 27 and 40 meters, being 6km long and 800m wide. Protea Banks is one of the richest tuna grounds in the world, which is one of the main reason why there are so many Zambezi Sharks patrolling the reef. The high tuna population has also enabled generations of fishermen to make a living at Protea.[1] Other fish species that can be observed in the reef include Scalloped Hammerheads, Great Hammerheads and Barracudas.[2] Since its proclamation in 2019, locals are expecting for the Protea banks to bring new economic opportunities, with the expected boom in tourism to the area.[3

Thank you Roland and your great team, Steve, Brandon & Spike, for the excellent service ! We had such a good time on Protea Banks, this place was a great discovery for us, fantastic encounters (school of Hammerheads, bull sharks, black tips sharks, huge groupers, tuna, etc.) at only 20min from the shore (with some waves, currents and depth in-between)!! We can only warmly recommend African Dive Adventures for their professionalism and efficient organisation. We’ll be back!!As last advice, besides doing training with the team, we will not recommend Protea for beginners.

In all my years of freediving and scuba diving this was one of the best experience I have ever had! Big thanks to Beulah, Roland and Spike for making sure we are all safe and get to experience the most amazing sides of Protea Banks. We were incredibly lucky to see five species of sharks - from ragged tooth sharks to blacktips and even hammerheads. Roland as our divemaster is incredible knowledgeable - after all he has been diving Protea over 3000 times and he never lost his passion. If you want to dive Protea, which I highly recommend, do it with Beulah and Roland from African Dive Adventures!

We had a few days of amazing dives with African Dive Adventures at Protea Banks. Starting from the beginning, Roland was extremely helpful in arranging our trip in the weeks before. Communication was clear and effective and prices were outlined clearly, exactly how it should be. He also arranged 2 days diving with a fellow company in Aliwal Shoal for us, so we didn't have to do two separate bookings and everything went really smooth.The dives were amazing, even though on some days the ocean conditions were really rough (to say the least), we saw 7 different species of sharks (including the rare Tiger Shark and dozens of Raggedtooth or Sand Tiger sharks), exactly what we went there for.Spike, the fantastic boat captain (being a qualified skipper myself, I was amazed by how he manages to get in and out of the ocean even with 3-4 meter waves making it look very easy) and Reiner, the dive guide, really work hard to organize and execute the daily dive plan, thumbs up for you guys.Being aware that the ocean down there is rough, this is the perfect place to dive if you wanna see the best that Protea Banks has to offer
