Friendly staff, clean terrain and buildings. Mostly affordable. Great location for hikes. Beautiful scenery, especially in the winter times when the water flows better down the waterfalls. Overall a great experience.

Such a great stopover with so much water 12 months of the year. The camping sites nearly 28 of the 48 hug the tree lining and the stream with seperate well constructed braai fascilities near the running water. Spotless and clean and raked with powerpoints and dustbins provided as well and more than large enough ablution fascilities and lots of grass for kids to kick and play ball. On the 22 waterfall hike some of the yellow marks are a little faded and 3 sets of steps in disrepair but absolutely well worth the visit.

Good day fellow campers,This weekend saw us head off to 22 Waterval in Porterville.  It's approximately a 2 hour drive from Cape Town. Most of the reviews refer to the waterfalls and accommodation. So here we go …Please note, there are baboons in the area and they do run through the camp. This is not a pet friendly camp. The camp is ideal for hikers as there are numerous waterfalls and trails to hike. There are cabins and chalets for those who are not into camping and the day visitors section is grassed and has an ablution. The shop at the office stocks wood and ice.The campsites are situated on a farm where goats roam around and they don't bother you.  There is a  stream running along the campsites that is fed by the water from the waterfalls and it is not swimmable. The sites have electricity, very sandy, uneven and  well shaded by the abundance of trees.  There is no swimming facility at the camp and if you want to swim or frolic in water, you would need to hike to the first or second waterfall. Some of the braais are not conveniently located on the sites and some are behind trees. This makes it difficult to comfortably sit around them and some are to far from your tents. Unless you set up on the sandy area close to the braai. The ablution close to our campsite is OK. Nothing to write home about. There's a kitchen area to do your dishes, 3 toilets and 3 showers. No mops or brooms to clean the showers when you are done. There was always hot water and good water pressure in the showers. On our walk about, we came across a  4x4 camp with several sites, an ablution and these sites do not have electricity. The trail to the waterfalls that we walked are not clearly marked. The painted signs are faded and walking the trail back to the camp was not marked with any directional signage. There are numerous side paths with no directional signage. In some areas, the trail is overgrown making it difficult to walk through. The views from the waterfalls and the trail we walked are beautiful! In comparison to other camps we have visited, this one did not float our boatsI would not go back.

What an absolute gem of a place! We stayed in the camp houses last weekend and we were blown away at the beauty of 22 Waterfalls. The hike is spectacular and the whole campsite is incredibly beautiful. We had the perfect combination of rest and outdoor fun. Our kids loved it and have been begging to go back. We will definitely be returning.

Very great camp site, make sure you arrive before 9pm because the office closes at 9pm. Also note that they sell very great wood and ice. Wood costs R50 and you get a very big bag of wood. Trust me it’s big. The weekend I visited there camp site had very bad weather so I couldn’t explore and also hike as it was raining. Also note that if you take camp site 7, 8, 9 or 10, they are at the end of the camp site and also next to the hiking trail so people will be passing by your camp site. Also note that you may hear baboons and monkeys howling at night. One interesting part of it is that there is a waterfall right next to camp site 9 so you don’t have to go hiking to see the first waterfall.

Amazing camp site but neighbours a bit too on top of one another. Waterfall hike is tough but worth it (be prepared to rock climb).Super friendly staff that take great care to clean campsite in between guests and empty rubbish bins (they also recycle!). Each camp spot unit has its own bin which is great. Fall asleep to the sound of babbling brooks, soft croaking frogs and chirping cicadas.Ablutions and washing up area could use a bit of an upgrade. There should also be warnings about wildlife and what to do if encountered- the one morning, a group of campers were tracked by baboons on the waterfall hiking trail. Could have been more dangerous if there were just two people instead of the group.

We stayed in the cottages which are situated away from the campsite. The area is beautiful and peaceful with great walks. The cottages however are very basic and poorly maintained. Just a bit of money could improve them dramatically and maybe then we would have felt we were getting value for our money.

Site number 10 is nice and isolated. Right next to the stream. Gurgling water sounds are very relaxing . Bare ground site. Not entirely level. A caravan may struggle to get into this site. No electrical connection and strangely no tap. Ablution block on the other side of the river has only 2 toilets and 2 showers. Kitchen rudimentary. Loved our stay. Do climb the 22 waterfall trail, well worth it.

As an outdoor person, I absolutely LOVED this campsite on the working farm. Best part: no thorns, I could walk around bare feet the whole weekend. Grounding was a pleasure. Small stream flows past almost every camp site. The waterfalls are so beautiful, very technical, don't be afraid of scrambling, exposed ledges and you will witness 22 waterfalls. In summer, bring your cozzie.
